Yes, I still have my gallbladder.  No, I haven't had any problems with it in the past.  I will let my surgeon know what happened, and will be on the lookout for any future episodes.  Thanks for the heads up!

So sorry that happened, but as a newbie sleever, your description really gives me a "heads up" as to what can happen!

Hopefully this will be your only episode...I still would give dr. feedback re gallbladder, stomach issues, etc...just to be safe.

Public education makes everyone a super-fast eater-I can relate

Thanks GarnetGirl, it really was an eye opening experience.  I never thought about it possibly being my gallbladder.  I'm surely hoping that's not the case.  I managed to get through this weekend with no more issues and no more ill effects.

I think it sounds more like gallbladder too. And a cream soup would be just the thing to trigger an attack.  Don't be like me - my gallbladder attacks felt like acute indigestion and I kept fighting through them and sleeping them off.  And they kept getting more and more severe.  The last one was triggered by a grilled cheese sandwich and cup of tomato soup.  Pretty simple, right?  According to the doc, the fat in my lunch pushed my sick gallbladder over the edge.  I was in the hospital for a week with severe pancreatitis before they could even take my gallbladder out.  Haven't had any problems since then.

By the way, this is all pre-VSG, but after phen-fen and the loss of around 80 pounds.  Doc said that any rapid weight loss can do your gallbladder in.

Get it checked!

Thanks Emelar, I am going to send my surgeon an email about it tonight.  I have to have labs drawn this week also, maybe I can have them check that also.

Ouch and not good memories...lost a lot of wt. via dieting years ago...not knowing the connection between wt.loss and gallbladder..

Drove myself to ER and also spent extra time waiting for my pancreatitis to calm down.....also ignored warning signs and pushed
onward...

Sorry you had to also go through that.

Now there are medications to prevent formation of gallstones...

Good question and good feedback from everyone.

GarnetGirl,
I haven't had any issues before that, and I'm doing ok since that episode.  I'm sorry to hear about your episode.  That sounds pretty rough!

I'm very grateful for the feedback!  That's why I love this place!

Girl! That happens to me when I eat eggs and chicken!!!  I can't eat them anymore - I wait and then try again - and then I get sick!! I usually feel like you do - but on top of that my mouth foams up and I throw up!!  It's happened once at work!! No more chicken for me!!!
