5 Days Post-op - Observations
1) I am truly blessed and as with all things in my life, God was in complete control of this.
2) While I've had moments of discomfort they have been seldom and brief and I have not expereinced any real pain.
3) Getting in 60+ grams of protein a day seems impossible but during the very first days so did getting 64 oz of water. Now the water/liquids go down well but it requires disciplined vigilance.
4) I'm walking and moving without any problem.
5) The incisions are healed to the point where I can roll over in bed and even lie on my belly (although I never do, lie on my belly that is, I do roll over).
6) Wifey and son's birthdays are one day apart. Last night I took the five of us including my granddaughter to a great Italian restaurant. Every one ate, drank and laughed, a great time was had by all. I had unsweetened iced tea and a bowl of minestrone soup strained to only the broth. I quite enjoyed it and it actually filled me up. Everything on the table looked and smelled amazing but I did not crave any of it. I did have a twinge though when we got home and the tres letche birthday cake topped with fresh fruit was served. But never did I consider putting it in my mouth.
7) I feel great! I can't believe I'm less than a week out of surgery and I feel this good.
8) When I got up to go to church this morning I put on my 42w jeans which I had been wearing but were already becoming loose on me from pre-op diet. Today they literally fell off me and I could not cinch them enough to keep them up. I went to my drawer and grabbed a pair of 38w that I have not even thought about wearing for at least 6 or 7 years. I kept them around only because I'm an eternal optimist. The jeans were snug but not uncomfortable and I wore 38w jeans to church. I'm not sayin' I fit in them well, there was a whole lot of overhang, but it won't be long now.
9) I give glory to God, He is faithful and true.
10) I am forever grateful to my surgeon, Dr. Edward Yatco, a consummate professional, a brilliant surgeon and a true gentleman.

What a great post, congratulations on your surgery and i have to say you have gotten off to a great start. And the best news is it will keep on getting better and better. Remember to walk, sip, rest and repeat and even tho you are feeling great you were just sliced and diced so don't overdo in the early stages. Good luck on your journey. God is good :o) jeani
Your positive attitude is so important in making this whole process easier; sounds like you're off to a great start. Congratulations!
It seems unreal that only six months ago I began this journey; my results have been fantastic, and the sleeve makes it "possible," but as you're discovering, self-discipline and hard work are the keys to overall success, I think.
I'm not a religious guy, but I do like the axiom, "everyone wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die." If heaven is our weight-loss goal, the path to glory means replacing much of the old person with a newer one. However, managed well, the sleeve also allows for us to maintain as much "normalcy" as possible - a great gift. Enjoying your family and your life as you travel the road is so great - we go out, have dinner parties, travel, and I keep working the program at the same time. Best wishes for your continued success.
