I cheated on my liquid pre op diet over the weekend I had some food.  I feel like a failure and if I can't do a pre op how am I going to do if for the rest of my life.  Can I will I be able to do it after surgery.  I have 8 more days till my surgery.. I am back on track and more devoted than ever to do this.  The guilt is bothering me that I gave him.. Any suggestions?

  Thanks,

      susan

pick yourself up and get back on your horse.. you can do it!.. My nut tells me it is so much harder to do the liquid diet before surgery than after.. and i am right here with you... This liquid diet SUCKS!!!! Keep staying devoted, forget about your slip up... you still have 8 more days!Just know that 8 days goes fast..we can do this.. :-)

so many of us cheat on the 2 week liquid diet, I know I did.  Like you said you are back on track.  You will do fine.  I had surgery 3/15, I have lost 60+ pounds, you will be successful too!

Can't change what's done, so guilt and beating yourself up isn't very productive.  That you're back on track is great, and using your energy to keeping on track is what's going to get you through this.
If it helps, pay attention to just staying on track today.  Even I was able to drink my yucky protein shakes and do without chewing for only a 24 hour period.  You can work on staying on track tomorrow when it gets here.

I find my sleeve is unforgiving if I try to stray from the program, so I thank God for the help and a useful tool to help me today.  (I'll probably say thanks again tomorrow.)
The good news is any non-liquid foods should be out of your system for your surgery, but keep in mind that food close to surgery can cause real problems for you and your medical team.

Best wishes, and stick around Susan.  There's many people here that helped me through what you're facing just 2 1/2 months ago.   If/when you hear the unhealthy stuff calling, log on and take another look at why you've come this far.

You're doing it now and you will continue to do it after the surgery. You're going to succeed. Don't beat yourself up. You got back on track; exactly what you were supposed to do. You can do it and you will. Drink protein - try Pure Protein - 35 g of protein in 11 oz can. Depending on the flavor you get, it has 1 to 4 g of carbs. Drink them extremely cold - that helps with the taste. The shake is actually doesn't taste that bad. That should help curve the want for food if you drink them for your meals. Drink plenty of water in between. I wish you the best!

If it was so easy to follow the pre-op you wouldnt need the sleeve.

I know some people look at it as "if you cant do it before the sleeve then you will mess up after the sleeve"

I find that to be complete and utter BS, the pre-op diet sucked, I cheated a little half way through it, as did many others, some who will and wont own up to it, and I am rocking my sleeve! It helps give me the power over food addiction that I have lost a battle with for 20 years.

You are human, entitled to error, now suck it up (not a milkshake) and follow that diet!
