Hello all Newbies and Soon to Be's.  I wanted to share a very important key to your future success as a WL champion.  My most important advice to you is:
1) Don't be a victim.  This is an exciting journey and can result in a real change in your life.  Don't ruin it by being a victim.  Yes, things may be different for the first few months, You may be sore, hate the protein drinks, miss cake, whatever.  Be pro-active. Don't succumb to buyers remorse.  Your surgery is over, you can't reverse it.  Live with the new you, forget the old you.  Celebrate the fact that you will finally have control.  No more Woe is Me attitude!
2) Take Ownership.  You're sleeved for goodness sake!  Be happy!  Soon enough you will be able to eat solid foods again.  When you can, be responsible!  It's not hard to eat proteins first.  Fill up on the right things, not candy, cakes, and breads.  This is YOUR journey, make it an exciting one!
3)  Be a forward thinker.  Don't look back and think you'd rather have passed on this surgery.  What's done is done.  Be excited for the healthier you who's coming.  Be master of your universe.  Track, plan, research, weigh, exercise.  Make this work for you.  It will be so worth it down the road.

This in an exciting time in your life.  Live with the aches and pains for a bit, it goes away.  Be happy.  No self pity!  If you do these simple things, you will be a success.  If you chose to wallow in regrets and self pity, well, you'll find ways to remain fat.  And always remember You Are Bigger Then The Cookie!

Very good advice. I am new here and I had my surgery on wed. I got off to a bad start and I blame it on the fact that no one got me up to walk the first day. In the middle of the night after asking a Nurse to please get me up I could not lay there, she finally did. I stayed up in a chair the rest of the day. I felt horrible which looking back had to be all the gas and pressure. Please get up as soon as possible, walk walk walk. It will mean a better start and outlook.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
