Greek yogurt & Sugar free pudding...Suggestions needed!!

 Hi,

My surgery will hopefully be at the end of May and I am trying to get an idea of the things that we (DH & I) will need.

I can normally eat and like sugar-free or diet desserts, such as Weigh****chers, etc.  So, I thought that the sugar free pudding wouldnt be an issue.

Well, I was wrong!  Just tried the vanilla and the aftertaste makes me nauseous.  Tried the Greek yogurt and it is very, very, very sour tasting.

I promise that I am not normally such a cry baby, but I figure that if those are the only things that I could eat at that stage, then I am in trouble.

Any suggestions on the best tasting ones, or what can you do to improve them?

Thanks!

I'd try some different brands of greek yogurt.  I like the Chobani blueberry best (and some of their other flavored ones.)  The Dannon brand was ok, too.  I didn't really like the Fage brand though - sour.

As for pudding?  I didn't even try it, I knew the aftertaste would be a killer for me.

I need honey or the fruit added in my greek yogurt. Even still I'm not really a greek yogurt fan.

I never eat pudding by itself, but the pudding is good added to stuff I eat (my oatmeal!).

Besides, after surgery your tastes are likey to change anyway. I wouldn't buy anything until I had my surgery (except broth or whatever you are supposed to eat the first week).

Go to GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and get some samples of protein drinks. You can also order them at vitalady.com or most protien supplement makers.

You need to get a lot of protein post-surgery. I've learned from reading that what one person likes another hates so it's a matter of what tastes good to you.  Try Unjury.com and get a sample of their chicken flavored protein and try mixing them with low sodium chicken broth or cream of chicken soup at hand (make sure it's not too hot when you add the protein or it will clump).

If you like sweets, try adding crystal light to greek yogurt.

Depending on your surgeon's diet, try blenderizing chili to make a puree. Or refried beans mixed with Greek yogurt.

Hope one of these works for you.

I can't eat plain greek yogurt either.  I was eating the dannon fruit on the bottom ones, but holy carbs!   I just switched to the plain and I'm adding torani sugar free syrups.  Makes it super yummy.

I do fage mixed with ranch dip mix to dip veggies in (pre-op)... it's also good mixed with peanut butter (extra protein) and SF torani syrup.

Fage mixed with the cheesecake flavored pudding mix and berries is good... or a dab of simply fruit.

Hope these help!

I take about a cup of plain greek yogurt,  a box of sugarfree cheesecake flavored instant pudding, about a cup of lite cool whip and  mix it all together and it tastes great!  It is like a thick creamy cheesecake.  I put Torani raspberry flavored syrup on it and it is really good!
