I was sleeved 4-27 feeling very feel little pain now.  I can eat 6 oz of yogurt and still fit more in like a popsicle.  I don't know if it is head hungry or I am really hungry,my new tummy rumbles. and get some pains if I don't eat often.. I am trying to eat every three hours.  Like today I ate 5oz of creamed soup,sf popsicle two of them,6oz of yogurt, and about 20oz water so far(nights still young).  Not for sure if I am really hungery or not??????????

When I was in that stage, the surgeon's plan wasn't specific on how much we should be eating. The main goal was to get in our protein shakes and to stay hydrated. I ensured I did eat something (broth, creamed soups, cottage cheese, yogurt, puddings, etc.) at least 3 times a day in addition to the shakes.

I am probably not the person to answer because I am only six weeks out. but will be interested in what people say. I  had 4 oz of greek yogurt tonight and I was "full" it is thicker than regular but it has more protein. You will be able to eat more if something isn't a solid. My Nutritionist told me to eat about a third of a small plate protein size about half of a  playing card. Wait to drink about a half hour and don;'t drink with meals.

I was on liquids for two weeks after surgery.  That included applesauce but not any cream soups.

Everybody is different and most surgeons orders are different.  Follow your Drs. orders.

The amount of liquids I was able to take in was no where near the 64 goal I was given...(5 months out and still not taking in 64 oz of liquids)

Good luck

Shana I also had my surgery on the 27 and I literally feel like I am starving. I was suppose to be on liquid diet for 2 weeks after but had to add in cottage cheese to help me fill up. My taste buds changed because now I cant stomach pudding broth and cream soup. I wounder if I am eating to much or to little.

For NOW - I'd eat whatever/whenever I could to get in protein and fluids - it's really hard at this stage - so I wouldn't worry so much with how often, etc. Ask your Dr/NUT at your next follow-up if your Dr. has specific guidelines for such. I BET they don't until 6 weeks out.

bear with me here, I have very recently come to a realization that I would like to share, for what it's worth.

I was cleared for "wahtever you can tolerate" at about 7 weeks out (due to dr. appointment scheduling basically)  By then, the swelling had gone down, I was so excited to chew things again, and even here a little crunch!  That is where I had my first experience with what we call the "unfortuante reversal" at my house.  I did taht 3 times over the course of a few weeks, each time due to eating too FAST or TOO MUCH.  I learned what the breaking point was and learned to stop before getting there.  JUST before getting there mind you.  Old habits creeping back in.  Coincidentally, my weight loss slowed down drastically, as the carbs crept back in.

Just last week, as I relflected on what was going on with me, I realized that I have been eating until I'm FULL instead of eating until I SHOULD BE DONE.  Point is, for those first couple months, I was perfectly happy and satisfied with measured amounts (about 4 ounces) multiple times a day.  I got to feeling so good, that I stopped measuring.  "I know my limits right"  So I justified eating more, not realizing what was going on.  So last week, I started measuring again, stopped the bigger snacks, ELIMINATED the carby stuff, and I have dropped 3 pounds in a week, after being "stalled" for about 3 weeks.

So, as to how much you should be eating?? Follow the measured plan of your surgeon.  At least for the losing phase.  I am confident I can maintain when I get to goal, but I am not ready to stop losing yet.  Don't go too far too fast, this is a journey.  Don't let yourself beat you.  This early though, the important part is the protein and staying hydrated.  Good Luck and welcome to the gang.
