I am on the COMPLETE liquid diet. I can only have 3 protien shakes a day, broth, sf jello, sf popsicles, and all the clear drinks I can muster! I wish I was allowed pudding and soup, I might not have cheated. LOL
I was starving by day 2! I just don't freaken understand why some surgeons allow no food and some don't even make people diet at all till the day b4!
Personally, I think that the surgeons make us do the hard as hell diets to test us and see if we r worthy of the surgery! The funny thing is, we are addicted to eating a lot or eating wrong things. Then they tell us...."STOP EATING AND DRINK FOR 2 FREAKEN WEEKS"! But they expect us to alter our old habits before surgery, if we could do it that easy, why would we need the surgery!

Sorry bout venting on ur post, but I am 5 days till surgery and I am just a tad moody from lack of chewing!

Good luck on ur diet and just a fyi, I was told if u must must cheat, avoid carbs. Eat lean meat or fish.

A lil late but thank you for venting on my post. lol I totally agree with you. It is sum hard stuff here. This is sum serious will power for the surgery. Im bugging out here. Im also glad u said something bout the cheating because Im sure I needed to know that. Some ppl dont want to say they cheated because they are afraid of others bashing them for doing it. But the truth of the matter is we all messed up somewhere or else we wouldnt be on this site or getting surgery. Jus in case I do cheat I would like to get info like this. I dont plan on it but the way Im feeling I cant predict I wont.

My surgeon doesn't require ANY pre-op diet. He only told me to not gain any weight before surgery.
I am on day 9 of my own voluntary pre-op diet...

Everything I read just say's the pre-op is better for you in the long run. I have lost 14 pounds so far and my sleeve date is next Tuesday. I actually feel really good now, but I was ready to grill the neighbors cat after the 1st day. I live alone so I removed everything "bad" from my house and that made it a lot easier.

Just know that around day 2-3 of the pre-op just kinda settles in and the intense hunger DOES go away....Or at least is managable.

Gah**Cough#Spweet!....Sorry, that was a furball

I have been on protein shakes and cottage cheese since the 8th... My surgery is on the 3rd. I found after 3 days I was ok. Still feel pretty tired and kinda blah, but other then that I'm surviving.

I've completed one week of my two-week pre-op diet...not really a liquid diet, just keeping carbs under 40 grams/day, which I've never done and BOY do I not like it.  I am a person who loves meat, and now I'm sick of it .  I go into ketosis pretty fast, so it's different for me than feeling hungry, but still some pretty strong physical sensations.  I bike to work in Seattle (hilly!), and I'm way off my normal pace.  Several days I've asked my husband to pick me up at the ferry cause I don't have the energy to bike up hill a mile and a half to our house.  I feel like a total wimp!  It's just 2 weeks though, and I'm keeping a tiny liver in mind so the surgeons get a perfect view of everything!
Good luck,
Jenny
