Can I eat this vs. should I eat this.

Oh yeah, I see, LOL. I do like the laughing cow blue cheese. I also like the garlic and herb. I haven't tried the chipotle one yet, but that seems like it would be good melted into a scrambled egg.

I am very interested in the process by which you lost your weight and it basically is the same diet as I was give however I wasn't given any soup recipes LOL!  I have a very hard time getting in all the protein and the water.  Since I have to give up 4.5 hours a day to waiting before and after meals I am just wondering how do you get your water in if you eat soup between meals and that type of thing? I am eating between 400-600 cals a day, under 40 grms of carbs and never get the 60-70 grms of protein I was told to get.  Usually I get around 50 in.  I normally get in around 50 oz of water a day even tho I am supposed to get around 70-100.  I feel overfull most of the time either from water or food.  I'm not sure what to do to get more in.

I wasn't given any soup recipes either.  LOL  My dear husband took a look at what my eating requirements were and came up with a soup that increased my veggie intake and at the same time added protein to my diet without adding many calories.  I think the calories in the soup are around 60 cals. a cup with almost all of them coming from the chicken breast.  Remember, the water in the soup also counts toward your water intake for the day.  It sounds like you are doing great and you just need to give yourself time to heal.  You will be able to drink a lot more soon.  Take care.

We just had a meeting in my BSG ( Bariactric Support Group)
My NUT said when we eat soups that are very thin, (brothy)  to
drink/eat the broth first and then eat the stuff in it.  I have never
been in the situation yet, but I thought it made sense. I just
want to ask you if this is how you ate your soup because of
your great success.  I would like to know if this is true.

Question:
What does EW mean?

EW = excess weight.  If you're 100 lbs overweight, and you want to lose 50%, that's 50 lbs.

I would have a hard time following your NUT's advice, because I can't have liquids and foods in my sleeve at the same time, it gives me foamy burps.  What does your surgeon/NUT say about eating and drinking at the same time?  I've long thought that advice originated with the RNY procedure, where they have a stoma and need artificial devices (like not eating & drinking @ same time) to keep the food in the stomach and stave off hunger longer.  But for me, there's a physical limitation, to where I can't do it, which I find ironic, LOL!

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for clarifying what EW means.

Regarding soups:
I hope I didnt express myself wrong.
My nut says I can drink up to the moment before eating. When I eat I have to
wait an hour after i eat, before I could drink again.

So they talked about when eating thin soup.  Drink the broth first, then eat the stuff
in it.  Not sure if that came accross right the first time.  I guess it has to do with the paloric valve.

I also cannot have both in my tummy together unless I drink first, then eat afterwards.  I would prolly wait like 5 to 10 minutes before i added food.

Thank you so much for responding...

You know, good question, I just ate the soup all together.  It helped keep me full and it is very few calories.  Of course it was winter, so soup was a perfect food.  I think for summer I would come up with something else that had dense, low-fat protein and a lot of veggies.  I'll have to think about what would make a similar hunger busting food in the Summer months.

Great advice - had not heard of the "first golden 6 months"...
Makes absolute sense though, under 40 grams of carbs will put most people into ketosis. I know from former success with the Atkins diet that once you jump out of ketosis with too many carbs the weight loss stops.
Thanks for the info;
I had planned on sticking to my docs/nut plan; but will think of this if "The Temptations" start singing that sweet, soulful music..
