I told my boyfriend, we live together, to either hide it from me, don't buy it, keep it in the car or we buy a lock box that only he will have the combination. So far so good but some times I find what he hides. I think a lock box will be his birthday present!! Don't get me wrong he is very supportive and does help me but if I know there are goodies that I like I do go and look for them, but only sometimes.

I too agree with Donna. I decided to have the surgery, my husband did not. I do all the shopping and I buy him chips, peanut butter crackers and the occasional goodie. I also pack his lunch for him every night and include his goodies. It is totally about us not wanting to sabotage yourselves. He he extremely supportive. I do all the cooking and I cook little to no carby stuff. Protein and veggies nightly.

I'll just ditto Donna as well. I refused to stop buying stuff for my naturally, thin, built like brick ****houses husband and son. Both of them are athletic, lean, and have the metabolisms of gnats. They can eat whatever, and not gain a pound, but they both enthusiastically run, and my husband has a strenuous physical training regimen with the Air Force. Grant it, neither of them eat a lot of junk food, but I do keep a bunch of(what some would consider) "forbidden" foods in the house that I choose to not eat.

I have the same thought process of eating out with friends and family (such as if they choose a buffet), and get togethers/potluck gatherings, and that ridiculous restaurant discount card for businesses to lose money on me because I can't eat an entire meal. No one should accommodate me because I chose to have my innards altered so I would put the fork down.

THANKS EVERYONE!   I totally agree that it is MY decision to do this surgery and no one elses.. I do know that it is ME that will need the "Won't Power" (Thanks! I like this better than willpower too) to not put the food in my mouth.. I have gotten some good pointers... I know my dh loves me and will be very supportive.. I'm going to have a lock and will ask him to hide stuff from me (I also dont want critters either though)so in a bin hidden in the car or maybe his shed..Maybe i can get a wine cooler or a small bar fridge..

Hey, Mel, I just found your post about your husband sabotaging you.  I was searching for this term because it's what I'm studying for my psychology dissertation.  I wanted to tell you that you are not alone.  I've already heard from over 150 people who told me stories about what their partners/spouses do to interfere with their weight loss. The stories about sabotage range from mild (complaining about healthier cooking) to more severe (abusive behaviors/language).  Here's one quick piece on it:  http://www.weightymatters.ca/2011/11/is-your-spouse-sabotaging-your-weight.html?m=1

I would make him take all that stuff to his car or garage or somewhere where you don't see it, and tell him in the future he shouldn't tell you it's there if he buys junk food at the store.
It's better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not.

I agree with Donna, i had this surgery it was my choice, I have not made my husband give up his crap food and nor should i make him hide it, its his house too, he doesnt expect me to hide my "healthy food". I have made suttle changes like buying him whole wheat bread instead of white bread, and buyng items that have no HFCS in them.. but i can not expect him to give up eating his fav foods or to start hiding his food...

I buy him stuff i do not like, for example home made cooking is my weakness so i dont bake it, i have no issues having packets of bought cookies in the house for my husband, I like pie, but i dont like pecan pie which is his fav.. so needless to say that is in the fridge along with icecream in the freezer.

If i want treats i get treats i can have...
