Only negative is dont seem to enjoy food much and eating seems more a necessity and hope that will change. But think it is the best thing possible.

I'm 10 days shy of 5 mos. post op and I've lost 115 lbs. as of this a.m. - my official weigh in day. I've also lost diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and what wifey calls "general grouchiness."
How have I done it? Consistency and Commitment - I exercise every day, no days off - ever- and I burn at least 500 calories in exercise. My minimum is a 60/62 minute, 3-mi. walk in my hilly neighborhood. Last week I walked 27 miles including 2 rounds of golf pushing my clubs - one on a flat course and the other on a hilly sum***** that damned near killed me - but I made it. Hurt? Achy? Take a freakin' pill and keep going. That which dosen't kills us makes us thinner.
I follow my program's nutrition regimen to the letter - I eat 4 mini-meals daily @ 4 hour intervals - I don't snack or graze between meals (a few almonds, maybe) and I now consume 1100-1200 calories per day. I'm very low sugar, low fat, low sodium, and, while I no longer eat any bread or much pasta/rice/potatos, I'm not an anti-carb fanatic - I enjoy fruit/berries/veggies. Wifey and I eat 85% the same stuff and she's not on any weight loss regimen - although she's lost 12 lbs. w/me and is damned near perfect, as always.
My last piece of advice is sometimes controversial, but was important to my success. I encourage you to share your experience with all of those who love you. You will, hopefully, marshall an army of supporters. Some will have questions and opinions - if they are uncertain or misinformed about WLS, educate them. If they won't be educated and are still naysayers, screw 'em. My family, friends, neighbors, everyone I know, is behind me on this journey and shares in my success. IMHO anyone who commits to WLS but feels that they have to keep it "in the closet", is simply adding one more emotional issue to their program. I was open about my life-saving heart procedures 15 years ago - why not be open about this life-saving, medically approved course of action? I left any shame I might have had about obesity and WLS in the OR w/85% of my stomach.
I go on the men's forum once in a while, but there's not much traffic there. The sex before and after WLS forum is sometimes fun - but at my age, I can't always remember what the hell those kids are talking about. Good luck on your journey.

Thanks for the advice! I am definite looking forward to starting this journey. Your advice about telling everyone sounds great and I might consider that. At this point I have a small circle of folks that are supporting me through this but I have a very large extended family that will be very curious once the weight start to fall off. I have contemplated just telling everyone and letting chips fall where they may.
I'll keep you post.
From Friscos ridiculous perspective:
(he introduced himself to this group basically the same way about a year or so ago... VSG does NOT change your personality!)
Yeah way more BEAN SPINNERZ... than BEAN COUNTERS on this board
