APPEAL - WON!!! Fed BCBS!!!

Kim - please let me know if you run into any hurdles and/or if you need a copy of my appeal letter.

toobigjca - I was denied based upon the "Experimental/Investigative" argument.  Once it got to my appeals specialist she indicated that they cannot deny based on that  - there has to be a MEDICAL reason.  If I met all of their critera in the handbook (page 53 I think) then the VSG would be approved.

Again, anyone who is interested in my appeal letter please just shoot me a friend request and I would be happy to send it to you.  It is really important that we all pay-it-forward!!!

 YEAH!!! That's wonderful news.  Sooo happy for you.   I too appealed with BCBC and won. Now it's a covered procedure.  There's plenty of room on the bench! Come on down! Congrats!

Most likely, if you are denied (hope not), you will receive a denial letter in the mail.  The letter will indicate what steps you will need to take in order to appeal the decision.  Absolutely APPEAL!!!  Your insurance will then have 30 days to respond.  I would also recommend that you ask for a Bariatric Surgeon to review the case during the appeal process.
