How has your mood changes since your surgery?

I sometimes get a little irritable when I have not eaten in a while. I have not had the surgery yet. I am a little worried that if I restrict the amount of food I can eat, that I will become grouchy on a regular basis. Please let me know how this affected your mood.

Thanks so much!
On my way!!!!!!

I totally know what you mean.  I used to get grouchy too when I didn't eat.  I think this had to do with my carb addiction.  I am a much happier person after surgery than I was before surgery.  Now I am not talking about the first few weeks, but about a few months out.

Well, I was a complete grouch when I was on my pre-op diet and for the first few weeks after surgery!  It got much better though. I think it is because I was detoxing off my caffeine and carbs and like any addict I was going through withdrawals.  I too was worried how I would be able to run on such a little amount of food because pre-op I would get grouchy, shaky or sick if I was without food for a long period of time. Surprisingly I feel BETTER without eating all that food. After the first month or so atleast.  Hormones get all out of whack too in the beginning which doesn't help either.  Now though I am happy and content :)

My friends and I call this the "no food bad mood." If I forget to eat or go too long without eating, I don't get grumpy, but I do notice I get a bit light-headed/tired. My mood has been fine - in fact I was just thinking that I haven't experienced some of the hormonal mood swings that others have experienced since having surgery.

I was a raging ***** for several months, and it had nothing to do with food intake. It was all hormone related, and honestly, there wasn't a damn thing that anyone could have done to change it.

I never realized how depressed I really was until I became happy. Im so active now and lighter that my grouchies are a distant memory!

I am only a week out (tomorrow) but so far I feel better post op than I did pre-op.  The adjustments to my tummy have pretty much eradicated my hunger thus far.  I don't not feel more than a mild interest in food when commercials come on.  My husband and son continue to eat with abandon and I barely pay attention.  I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, because so far I feel very good.  I  cut out bad habits well before my surgery so I didn't have other issues to deal with on top of recovery, and boy am I glad I did.  No caffeine withdrawal, no cravings.  Hunger was more managable.    Best wishes!

The first 4 to maybe 6 weeks were the worst for me, carb withdrawal, caffeine withdrawal, alcohol withdrawal...pretty much withdrawal from everything I LOVED lol.

Your body will adjust and you will adjust along with it, it's like starting over from scratch.
