Just Venting
So i find myself wondering lately have i done the right thing where i work several of people i know have had the gastric bypass and they look great with very little effort but i am trying so hard i do struggle sometime with portion size (I am convience my stomache is stretched out b/c i can eat a entire lean cusine steamer bowl meal or a whole tuna sandwich) i have lost 41lbs so far but it does not seem like enough i just do not know i am always so hungry
my doc has me take protonix (a proton pump inhibitor) every day to reduce stomach acid and he recently had me add another kind of acid reducer called an "H2 inhibitor" ....he suggested pepcid, tagamet or zantac. zantac was cheapest so i take a zantac twice a day.
apparently stomach acid can make us feel hungry.
if you feel your tummy is stretched....unstretch it by carefully measuring out your portions to 1/3 to 1/2 a cup at a time!

I was sleeved just before you and I struggle with the same thoughts. But I'm sure they have to work at it just like we do. I feel like I'm able to eat too much or that I eat too often. I will say though that a whole sandwich does seem like alot. I probably could eat a whole sandwich, but why pu**** You know what I mean? I try to keep measurements in mind when I'm eating and stick with 2-3 oz of dense protein or I can usually have half a cup of cottage cheese. If i'm eating tuna (mixed with greek yogurt as a tuna salad) I can usually only do about 2.5oz. I don't do a lot of bread unless it's half a piece or whole piece of toast for breakfast. I would say to just make sure to measure your intake and focus on getting your protein first. It sounds to me like you are on track and doing great. Just do what you do and follow your surgeon's instructions.

Lost 150lbs, gained back 50lbs.
Back on track and hope to
compete as a Powerlifter soon!!
Awww...hang in there Are you taking a PPI? I have noticed that makes a HUGE difference in my hunger. Try to eat protein first always. I can always eat more of the "bad" foods if I choose to. I just try to eat protein first so I can't fit in much of those other carby foods. I think 41 pounds is great! This is more about a personal choice to change your entire life. I bet you feel so much better with 41 pounds gone. Just try to follow the rules the best you can, excercise, and drink water. This process isn't easy. I know you said you have friends with the bypass, but so do I. One sweet friend of mine who is ten years out is having horrible teeth problems because she can't absorb calcium and other nurtrients. Try to change your outlook. Cherish each pound. Be thankful you were able to have the surgery. The sleeve really is a great thing! HUGS!
