Animal Lovers..
Its funny that you say that because it is always the 1st thing people say- They love animals but could not deal with euthanasia.
For me, giving an animal a peaceful, dignified death is the last act of love you can bestow on them. I often sit with owners and their pets for the euthanasia and want it to be as peaceful as possible. I usually end up crying a bit with the owner, we make the pet comfortable with blankets and sedatives, we talk to their animal and pet them the whole time.
It is very hard especially when we have to euthanize for financial reasons like a dog get**** by a car and the owner has no money. Or if the pet is a client you have really learned to love. But again, the sadness of these moments is overshadowed by the puppy kisses and sweet moments we get to experience also.
