Ex Bandsters those in transition PLEASE show some support for this woman
Yes I remember you . . . was thinking about you yesterday even (hoping you were succeeding full speed ahead). I am so glad that your band is working for you. But YES the Lap Band forum does treat you like the ugly step child when you have band problems. I'd support anyone with a band but I don't like people being bullied ESPECIALLY when they are down. Most of us come from a very vulnerable place and after trying every single thing under the sun comes the band and oh to have that go wrong no matter the doing can sink your spirit.
When things are good with the band, they are great! And when they are bad that is all! You had a "simple fix", a solution. What if you had no insurance with absolutely no means $$$ of fixing (some ppl had insurance when they were banded and then things changed unexpectedly - job loss etc.), what if it were a slip, erosion, dilation or such? See sometimes fills or restriction or whatever they just stop working and then there is this back and forth and in the end you are left with no options which would resolve the issues with your band. See, you had an option. Present there when you don't - it may not get ugly the first time then pple start to turn on you because they just won't here of it.
I never failed my band. I took a chance at something and I don't have a single regret. I loved what my band did for me. One thing I did not deny was when a person had "issues" with their band. If someone is hurting you just don't do that. Maybe that was not done to you, but it has been done to many and nothing can erase that pain.
Good luck to you. I hope the Band is all you ever need.
Leila, sorry you feel that way. I have been posting regulalry for about 5 years - can you show me a sinlge post where I have not been supportive? As I was of you when your problems started?
And in the link you give, one poster thought the original thread was from a troll (and you can see why, it was a bizarre problem!) and responded abruptly. She then realised her error and apolgised - on the same thread. All the other replies were supportive.
Almost all of those who post on the lapband board are supportive. The only one who is consistently unsupporitve is a regular anti-band poster who tells newbies (who already have bands and who are scared for some reason) that they should have got another surgery and it is bound to go wrong.
You are always going to get the odd few on any board who are just plain unhelpful
