Many of you know that once you have "issues" with the Band, you receive a very cold welcome on the LapBand Forum.  You become the ugly step-child that must be tied up and locked in the dark closet behind the stairs  .  But seriously, it is true.  It is you who failed your surgery, it is YOU who picked a lousy surgeon.  It is YOU because YOU, YOU, YOU, YOU did it to yourself because you failed.  Come on people why would a person choose to fail a WLS - I mean so many people?  None of us are perfect and some of us are worse than others, but when it smells bad, it just does - you can spray the scent of roses until the container becomes empty.  Underneath it all remains that bad smell.

Wow! Sounds like there's a supportive bunch over there. I lost my port 5 years ago & my band 4 years ago. I had a port infection & an errosion. I just got the VSG 2 weeks ago. I'm sorry about your band & sorry that those who chose to respond were less than support. It stinks!

I'm not gonna lie, the first 10 days were hard. Really, really hard. For me, the band surgery was a breeze (and I was 250lb at the time). I'm finally starting to feel human. I can take in liquids easier than I could days ago. I just started a pureed diet & so far so good. I'm sore & tired but I'm well. I can already tell the VSG will be totally different than my band but I'm not sure how different yet. I'm crossing my fingers for a positive experiance.

I'm not like that at all (you can go back and read my posts).  I think you should revise your post to say some people give you a cold reception on the LapBand board.  Because I have never been rude to anyone on OH.  I know there are some that get defensive and rude.  I also realize that there are people that their bodies just can't tolerate the band and it's no fault of their own.  I wouldn't judge all failed bandsters on "their" poor habits.....I know it's not always because of the owner/operator of the band...it's the band itself.

So please don't judge us all based off a few bad apples.

Nor am I. Over generalizing and using absolutes happen way too much here on OH.

You are absolutely right, you are not like that.

I wish you nothing but success on your band journey.

Leila,
Sorry you feel this way. I'm a relatively new bandster. I joined the forum because my surgeon asked me to. I cannot tell you how upsetting it is to read the dialogue that goes back and forth when a member has trouble with the band. I hope you find the support you need. Best of luck!!

OzzieGirl,

I wish you all success with the Band!  No regrets here, I loved when my band was working and embraced it.  Embrace your journey and stay open to others who may be having difficulties.  My arms are open to you and anyone else who can use me.

Blessings,
Leila

I am sorry you feel that way. I had problems with my band and I got nothing but support from most everybody. There are going to be bad apples on every board and it is a shame that you have lumped everyone into the same category.

My band failed me, my port failed me, and I... yes I failed my band... It was a dreadful combo. My port is fixed and so is my attitude. I am having success again. Thanks to the support from the ladies on the lapband board I have pulled my head out of the sand.

You are doing a disservice to newbies by announcing that LapBand Forum treats people that are having issues as "the ugly step-child" or blame them. That is just not so.
