I certainly will not argue with your success!  I see more "newbies" posting about "will i need to do low carb" for life?'  or i don't want to be on a "diet" for life!  I don't want to be either!  I do not consider my eating plan a "diet"  I have change the way i eat and view food ....for life!  Diets DO NOT WORK....the "diet" mentality does not work!
When people see others (not just you ) post "what works  for them"  It seems as if they are seeking approval/permission to go "off plan" as i call it!  This may lead down a path of no return for some.  You may allow more carbs.....but you are expending more energy too!  like I said this does not apply to people who are expending TONS of energy!   Hell.....some of them may do more carbs than before WLS!
I would never say YOUR way is WRONG or does not work!  As I said it is NOT to far off what many vets at maintenance do......I don't think 100 carbs is outrageous.......if it were all from donuts.....I would say be careful.....but i know you do "healthier" carbs   When i am "at maintenance....I hope I can do the same!  I am not there yet. so it is "low carb" for  now....which works for me!
I welcome ALL points of view.....It is what makes this a discussion and NOT a lecture!  I find your opinion valuable here and welcome it.  I hope people continue to ask for your advice....they will benefit from it. and  I hope you feel the same regarding my POV.  BTW.....I rarely do "low fat"  either!  I like my butter, mayo,  and olive oil......in such small quantities.....don't think it is "slowing"my progress..........peanut butter cookies.......is another story!  Thanks for your input.....it is ALWAYS welcome!  On a side note.....I have 0 people "blocked"  even if i do not agree with them......I can see their POV  and I may take a bit of "wisdom" away from the "disagreements" that happen here!  This case is no different.

Ahh.... finally a post about carbs that I can agree with.  Like my mountain climbing friend, I also usually go around a 100 net carbs a day, with the carbs coming from "good" carbs... not that I am perfect about that though.  I do not count myself in the "low carb" group- on this board at least since I have no desire to keep my carbs under 40.  bur I also agree with Jimbo that I would be a lower carb person in the general population.  And also like my mountain climbing friend my NUT and bariatric team want the higher protein with those carbs, and support the 1000-1200 cal range I am currently at.  (For newbies, this is not where I started out at.)  Yes I am active, yes I am tall, no I am not a competitive athlete.  But I can say that I agree completely with Jimbo here on this.  If keeping carbs under 40 is what you need, then follow that path.  If it is a little higher and supported by your team an working, then follow that path.  Sometimes I feel like there are so many posts screaming that if you don't keep it under 40 you will fail that I think it is important that readers out there know that there indeed can be succss with a higher carb/cal path.

-if it is working the stick with it
-it if is not working, time to get real and make the necessary adjustments
-don't skip the exercies :)
-get your protein and fluids in
-take your vitamins and supplements

I think that is also pretty agreeable to most folks here.

Very good post.

No one metabolises refined carbs 'normally.'  The fact that they have to be processed to be edible and digestible by humans should tell us something.  Even cattle don't process grain properly and have to be shot up with antibiotics when finished in feed lots.  The quality of protein (muscle) and fat from grain fed  cattle is demonstrably  inferior to grass-fed according to virtually every study done..

The deleterious effects of refined carbs on people is mostly a matter of degree.  My "Normal" weight husband has diabetes that is uncontrollable without complete elimination of processed carbs despite pills and injections.  Refined carbs, however, a cheap.  You can feel lots of people with them for very little money.

All I can say is that when I'm like 85 and my health is no longer about "buying more time" I'm going to eat all the freaking donuts I want! Haha, if I'm going to be old and on my way out anyway, I'm going down with a smile on my face and cookies in my hand, lol!  Until then... these things are strictly moderated!

I hear THAT!  Except you might be more like 95!  Just make sure it is "soft" stuff like donuts!   Choppers might not be 100% at that age....ya know?

Great post Jimbo, thank you.
Eating in great volume and eating lots of carbs got me to MO. Reducing the volume and almost eliminating carbs and my wonderful sleeve has gotten me out that MO category and on my way to a healthy weight.
