Hour glass shaped sleeve?

First and foremost, let me thank you guys for letting me intrude your forum, even though I'm a DSer. Jenna Lynn sent me this way.

I had the DS almost two years ago and have a trememdous problem with vomiting since my surgery. Seems I have an hourglass shaped sleeve, along with possible some gastroparesis. Has anyone here experienced the same issues? If so, any successful outcomes without revising? You can read my whole story over on the DS board. Needless to say, I'm beyond frustrated, and looking for some options.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey, no intrusion at all! I just read your story and it's horrible what you have been through. I do recall seeing a post or two about an hourglass shaped sleeved but can't recall who it was...one i think they tried to revise the sleeve but she ended up with rny instead. I hope someone can chime in here to help you. Glad Jenna Lynn sent you. I've read her posts before and she's quite helpful and kind.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you for the response and the bump. Jenna Lynn does rock, all the way around. Hopefully those with past issues will chime in. I really am at my wits end today. Sometimes it's not difficult to deal with, but when I get on a roll, I'm ready to just chuck it all!

Thanks again!!!

YES there have been VSGers with hourglass shaped sleeves. A female surgeon in MX....ugh her name escapes me...has done them this way. (Maria Pompa-Gonzalez [sp] I think)

Check with Midwestern Girl (wasabubblebutt). I am sure she knows the VSGers and the doctor.

Hi,

Joyce P. had similar hoursglass shaped sleeve. She didnt have much restriction so Dr. Aceves try to resleeve her but when he got in he couldn't resleeve her due to some kind of mesh that Dr. Maria Pompa??(What Mandy said) used instead of staples or something like that so she ended up with RNY. You can see the upper GI on her profile. You're welcome to go my my profile and find her in my friends list. She is super sweet.

Best of luck to you.

If I may say so I'd recommend speaking to my surgeon. He does revisions and he also does plications to tighten or adjust existing operations. Perhaps there is something he can suggest. Sorry you are going through this.

I have nothing helpful to add, but I wanted to say what a mess and unimagineably frustrating!!

I hope you get some relief, and soon!

I'm wondering if you have a stricture? One of the symptoms is chronic vomiting. The hourglass part could be where the stricture has formed, though I've never seen what it might look like! Do you also have upper chest pain after eating? I've seen folks who post and say sleeves don't get a stricture, but it's a possible complication. Just tossing the idea out there anyway. Have you consulted with your (or a different even) bariatric surgeon?

I did have a very stubborn stricture. Yes, it was at the narrow part of my sleeve. I've been scoped with dilation 5 times, I think. It is definitely open now, confirmed with another scope and upper GI. I have consulted with both my and other surgeons. Thank you for the suggestions!
