the BEST "unflavored" protein powder (in your opinion) is...?

I am over 2 years out now, and my FAVORITE protein is STILL Max Protein in Vanilla.  Most days I still have a shake, even now.  It is available at GNC franchise stores; not all GNC's have it.  It is the best I've found, but protein tastes really vary, according to the person.  Give it a try and see what you think.

I'm still a fan of unflavored unjury, the trick is to use it in "complementing" ways.  It's Whey protein, so it actually goes better in milk-based applications.

The trick to using any kind of protein in a warm drink is to go slowly- add the protein while the drink is cold then slowly increase the temp.   If I'm making a hot chocolate (like with Nectar Sweet Chocolate Truffle) I'll put the milk and powder in my shaker bottle and combine, then pour into a mug, nuke for 30 seconds, stir, nuke for 30 seconds, stir, repeat until hot enough.

I usually microwave things like that for about 2 minutes total, but don't try to get it boiling hot or it will get grainy and nasty.  (This is true for any kind of whey based protein)

Trader Joe's has a really inexpensive brand of unflavored Soy protein as well that can be used at all temps- the problems is that I couldn't stand the smell.  I have a RNY friend who loves it and can't taste or smell it at all.

I have done tons of protein powders. I've done whey, soy, rice, organic, etc. in nearly every popular brand over the years, from just about every big company...
None of them taste all that great, and most are better in shake form with ice and lots of fruit...
If you mix into hot foods or drinks, it gets tricky...due to the clumping and smell.
Years ago, I did use Vanilla Whey Designer Protein from GNC, mixed in to hot oatmeal, stirred really good, and added lots of cinnamon to mask smell...That worked for me.
To me the vanilla is always better than the unflavored, if you are using it in a sweet food/drink.
If you are allowed, I'd add lots of spices that match what you are trying to create for a tastier way to get the stuff down.

I love all the flavors from Unjury the best.  The unflavored really works in a lot of the things.  All of the flavors are delicious.  Their  protein chicken soup really got me through the liquid phase.

I had the most difficult time with "unflavored". Because for me when I heard "unflavored" I thought that meant tasteless, BOY was I wrong. I still think they have a horrific stench of baby formula, and they all have a "taste" no matter how I attempted to mask the "unflavoredness" of them. I hope you find one that works for you.

I vote for Pure from bariatriceating.com as well.  I have used it since I was newly postop and loved it.  However, it is a bit expensive especially by the time you add shipping.  So....I stopped at GNC and bought some of their unflavored last night hoping I would like it as well.  NOT>>>>  It tasted like protein with no flavor.  Pure, on the other hand, I can't even tell is in my smoothie, soup, yogurt, hot chocolate, etc.  I'm still trying to decide if I can afford some Pure after wasting money on the GNC brand.
