Almost a month out and IV site still hurts?!?

Your friend sounds right, the vein is probably blown. The nurse probably cared that the meds hurt when they went in but thought if it is not broke then why fix it.
I still have a hard lump on my vein from where my iv went in...But I think mine had a lot to do with the potassium that was going through it. My iv site hurt for about 3 weeks after my surgery and the bruising lasted even longer. It sucked.....That hurt worse then any of my incisions. I kept ice on it around the clock.
