Many are experience and professional - again what clinically makes him superior?
(VSG) seems to be a straight forward procedure with most using the same instruments and technique...just trying to understand what makes him so different?  I too will probably use him but maybe it's just for peace of mind since the procedure is not being done in the U.S.
Regardless - i appreciate the feedback.

It's my understanding that he has never had a leak which is an outstanding statistic.  He has a great bedside manner and genuinely cares for his patients.  I got better care there than I ever have had in any hospital in the US.

Plastics by Dr. Sauceda in Monterray, MX - 2/6/2012 (yippee!).  Lower Body Lift, BL/BA, Arm Lift, Butt Lift.

The hospital is very clean and well equipped. It's not a recovery house or a clinic. It's a regular hospital.
Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos will come to see you in your room 3 times per day.
Dr. Aceves is very experienced and teaches other doctors all over the world to do sleeves. I also liked that he does 3 leak tests. You just won't find somebody unhappy with their experience there.

Clinically, ok I think I know what you are asking, I like that he oversews the staple line (some other docs do this as well), I like that he does 3 leak test, and I like that you stay in a hospital not in a hotel post-op or outpatient as some docs in the US do to cut cost.  He is also one of the veteran docs for WLS in Mexico and has been doing VSG much longer than many of the US docs because insurance issues in the US.  The more you do something the better you are going to be at it.  I was able to go back 9 years for WLS information on Dr A and about 2-3 years on OH for VSG information.  I am a NP in the US so these type of clinical "issues" were important to me.  Hope this is what you were looking for. :-)  Having my surgery on the 13th of Dec in 11 days.  Sharon

Nooooo, not all surgeons use the same technique.  There is a TJ surgeon that uses a 32F bougie but her sleeves are huge and people can eat too much.  Yet Dr. Aceves uses a 36F bougie, oversews it to a 34F stomach and his sleeves are very small and very tight which is what we need. It's all about technique.

The procedure is being done in the US by lots of doctors.  Some are good, some are not.  Same with any country.  But it is a whole lot cheaper in MX with 3x the hospitalization.

You won't find a "cleaner" hospital anywhere. Hospital Almater employes an army of housekeepers that scrub the building from one end to the other and when they finish, they start all over again. My room was cleaned a minimum of once a day in the 3 days I was there. Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos are World Class surgeons and you simply could not be in more capable hands. Hats off also to Lucy, Yolanda and Nina as they guide you every step of the way ensuring there are no suprises.

Before I had surgery done by Dr. Aceves, Myself and several of my surgery co-workers went to see Dr. Aceves and the hospital that he does his surgery in.  We were invited to go where we wanted to and "tour".  Boy, did we ever "tour".  Literally did the "white glove" test on window sills, peeked behind corners, etc.  Were even invited to come back and watch some surgeries (which we never did because we had basically decided that everything was top notch).  We were there several times before I had my surgery and each time was the same.  No change in the cleanliness, professionalism of the hospital staff, etc.  My OR staff and I are VERY hard to please when it comes to cleanliness, professionalism.  EVERYONE left the facility in awe at the entire experience/atmosphere.

I can honestly say that I have worked with/for well over 1000 different surgeons around the world and Dr. Aceves is definately in the top 5 in skills, compassion for his patients, and general over all professionalism.

I had a remarkable experience with having my surgery done by him.  He came to my room at least 3 times a day to check on me post op.  By checking, I mean touching me, listening to my bowel sounds, etc.  He didn't just stand at the door and "talk" small talk.  He asked questions while he was examining me.  This is all in addition to the checking by Dr. Campos.  I could go on and on but have to leave for work.

THIS IS BUT A SMALL EXPLANATION ON WHY DR ACEVES IS THE BEST.  You have to decide for the best what works for you and what you deem as "proof" of the best.  Good luck to you and enjoy this incredible journey, whatever and who ever you decide to do/use.

Dr Aceves and Dr Campos are fantastic and very professional. They both have excellent bed side manners and are truly skilled at their professions.
All nurses except one spoke English, the one nurse that was not fluent understood what I was trying to communicate. All were professional everyone had positive attitudes and treated me as if I mattered to them.
The hospital was impeccably clean and comfortable. I can honestly say I wish I had been there for knee surgery instead of in the states.
The drivers, I had two because I arrived so late, were fantastic. Both spoke English and both were on time and very pleasant. Please do not forget to tip them.

My overall experience could not have been improved on, I do not have ANY complaints what so ever. It was my best choice. If at the end of my journey I want plastics I will return to Hospital Almater.

Good Luck!

I had my surgery 22 months ago with Dr. Aceves and ditto what everyone has said about him on these boards. I do not think you will find a hospital or surgeon in the U.S. where everyone is thrilled with their experience like people are with Dr. Aceves. I thought for sure I would find something wrong with him because I look for the negatives in everything; there were truly none. My only regret that I had was that I did not have a better meal for my last one at the hotel. That is not my regret almost 2 years later because I can eat more normally now, so I no longer miss food.

My whole experience with Dr Aceves and crew was extremely smooth....beginning with making the appointment to the car ride back to the airport.  I have had no problems physically...meaning throwing up and having issues eating.  I suppose that is pretty individual thing though and not neccessarily anything to do with the doctor used.

Also, my scars are minimal.  Look like mosquito bites if that....they are just slightly discolored which I am sure will fade eventually as I am fair skinned (And he does one in the belly button so I only have four).

I actually fight to maintain weight now a days instead of keeping it off.  It is fantastic.  I feel my decision to have VSG and use Dr Aceves was one of the best decisions of my life.

Good Luck!!
