Does anyone have any regrets?

Does anyone have any regrets about having the surgery?  Any regrets about food you can't eat, any regrets about telling people, not telling people, etc?  Just an open "regret" session.  I'd like to hear...

I regret going into this with a teenager's mentality.  I really thought I was going to be fine, I never dreamed I would have any complications...

Reality smacked me on the face with reflux and lactose intolerance.  I think as more and more lbs come off I wont be so disappointed by those things.

I was sleeved just a little over a month ago (Aug 31st) and Yes...I have one huge regret....I only wish I had done this sooner!  This has been the answer (for me) for the hunger prayers.
I have always eaten healthy, but just too much of it because as rigid as I was during the day, by 5pm I was starving.  NOT ANY MORE!!!!
After 20 years of pregnancy weight...(my oldest is 20, my youngest is 16)...it is finally coming off and it will stay off.  I won't have to lose the same 50 lbs over and over again for the next 15 years!  it is gone forever.
I can live with alittle heartburn and I can live with the lactose issues.  I am so glad that my knees and ankles ---hey, I have ankles!!! ---don't hurt any more.
Zero regrets.  Food is not my friend...I love myself much more than M&Ms or chips and queso or a big plate of whatever or just sitting an munching...and having that huge stomach that just growls and fusses all day---that demon is GONE!!!!!
I love my sleeve!  No regrets at all!!!!

AWESOME!   Just what I wanted to hear!!  I love what you say about loving yourself more than M&M's, chips, etc.  I'm going to say that over and over.  Hope my hunger and cravings go away too once I have the surgery!

I agree with you! My only regret is I didn't do this years ago. I wasted so much time and now here I am a 59 year old woman. BUT I will be a SLENDER 60 year old woman and am already fantasizing about the dress I'm going to wear to my big birthday ba****hat makes m drool far more than anything that I could put into my mouth!

I don't miss any foods., either. I'm actually quite content with 2 shakes a day and whatever else I have for my meal, even if it's only FF refried black beans and cheese.

I LOVE watching the scale move! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwww!

I had Dr. H too.  He rocks!

Regrets?  Only that I didn't have it 10 years ago.  But VSG wasn't available 10 years ago, so I guess that's a moot point.

Surgery in Feb.  97 pounds lost since surgery.  103 totals.   I love, love, love, love my sleeve!

The only food I'm not able to tolerate is bread.  I don't miss it at all.  I figure it takes up too much space in my small stomach and why fill it with empty calories.  So I haven't even tried a bread/type food since April.  Don't think I will either.  Especially while I'm still losing.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Hi

I regret not getting my WLS earlier. I regret letting my health get as bad as it did. Yes I am a million times more healthy and active than before, but I can't undo what damage I have already done to myself from carrying so much weight in the first place. This is the best thing I have done for myself ever ( I was self pay and not working SAHM). I love my sleeve

Best wishes

I'm only two weeks out, and still on a liquid diet.  I must say, I have NO regrets.  I wish I could have done this 20 years ago!  I have NO hunger issues, no cravings.  I've already lost 12 lbs.  Now I look at obese people and wish they could do what I did.  Knowing I am escaping this encasement of fat is an awesome feeling!   I chose to go the self pay route because I couldn't stand the idea of waiting and waiting for insurance to maybe cover.  No, no regrets at all!

I had some serious complications and I still have no regrets of having the VSG done. I figure it this way. It took a few months to heal from the complications but I did heal. Had I not had the surgery I would have never healed from the damage the obesity was causing. I too regret not having it sooner. I spent way too many years not enjoying life as a fat person. I have a lot more years now to look forward to and they will be healthy years thanks to the VSG!
