Hair loss
It can happen to anyone. Some people experience it and others don't just depends on your body. However with VSG it is less intense then if you had the RNY because there is no malabsorption. But your body can freak out a little bit because you will be eating less and it is put under stress. Sometimes anesthesia can make it happen as well.
I am a licensed cosmetologist and I have had several clients that had WLS and I can tell you that it will grow back! Take your vitamins still and just ride it out.

I'm getting hit by the hair loss....for me so far it isn't horrible, it is just like normal shedding, but more....like alot more.....but not clumps or bald spots.....I think it is just our bodies response to trauma and lower calorie intake...it all levels out (I hope) I'm just riding it out and enjoying the positives from the weight loss....
Good luck with surgery.....

I have to admit that my research pretty much says that hair loss is virtually inevitable. There is a woman on the DS board, and on youtube, lorindablack, and her posts and videos will tell you a lot about hair loss. In short, she did absolutely everything right, and she lost hair. Everyone says its a small price to pay, especially as it will grow back. Good luck to you!

It does happen to all of us, unfortunately. Biotin does help with the quality of the regrowth and it's important to keep up your protein levels. I've been losing my hair since month 4 and I'm in month 7 and it's starting to slow down a bit although my hair is stressed looking and dry as my hair dresser says. I've got lots of new growth and I'm so thankful that I had really thick hair to start with. I think it's a small price to pay to lose the weight. Really! We all go through it and we all get through it.
