Ok so Friday I get to start on full liquids. I'm already really wanting to get to soft foods and unless i find some creative ideas i'm gonna be miserable for 3 weeks.

does anyone have any soup ideas for the full liquids stage?

or any other ideas? i'd love to get my protein through things other than shakes. any greek yogurt ideas? i'm thinking savory stuff.

I made homemade chicken soup and stuck it all veggies and chicken in the blender.  I also made lentils and beans and put them in the blender.

I found just about any soup tastes great in the blender, I picked the ones I liked and weren't cream of potato...and put them in the blender...the cream of potato for whatever reason aside from carbs tasted like crap to me...

Progresso has a creamy tomato soup that is low cal and tasty....

They also have a southwestern chicken and a hamburger soup, I rememember those were great....Also my favorite was italian wedding soup....all in the blender and voila!

I had to get something that wasn't sweet...I tried to get most of my protein with my breakfast/morning shake (AMP 60 from GNC, 60 gr of protein and not bad)

Goodluck.....

love the suggestions but that stuff sounds like the puree phase and my dietician was so adamant about me straining everything. blend it then strain it. which i thought sounded so pointless.

I made like beans the regular way I would and the blended them without the smoked meat and then strained them... I think it was delicious.....and I'm going into my third week... I also made cream of broccoli & potato soup and blended and strained it...It wasn't bad but after of a week of that one you get very tired of it... I'm thinking if blend it and then strain it you should be fine... But again I'm no doctor.... Good luck..

I'm gonna be honest, the liquid phase is just gonna be miserable.  Sorry.  My favorite broth/soup brand is Pacific Natural Foods.  They have a great organic line of broths/soups.  Try them all!  Most are low carb and great flavors.  You'll also continue during the puree stage.

lol i appreciate your honesty. i checked them out online and they look great. low in fat and sugar, thats fantastic. i had found this butternut squash soup by Wolfgang Puck and it was so delicious but its like 11g of fat and no protein. so i'm glad to see that these will make it possible and guilt free to have that soup again. now the challenge will be finding them at the supermarket.

thanks!

I didn't do anything wild, but a change from sweet-tasting liquids was enjoyable. I used Herb Ox no-sodium broth packets (beef and chicken) and mixed 2 packets to a cup of water for more intense flavor. Also, I really like Campbell's Harvest Select Tomato Basil soup - no blending or straining required. After 3 weeks of liquids, I was more than ready to move on to soft foods, too. Now I can't wait until Saturday and solids!

woohooo!! solids! exciting!! :)  congrats. i'm sure you're gonna enjoy that.

ugh the broth is nice but i'm sick of broth and ready to move on to creams! lol. yeah you know i tried that tomato and basil during the pre-op diet because it looked good in the can but it tasted like tomato sauce to me. so i never ate it. i've gotten kind of picky on this liquid diet.

I am on pureed for one more week and am SOOOOO bored! Mashed potatoes, cottage cheese ... this pureed stuff is not for me. I was thinking ... how could babies eat pureed food - it is just ick texture. Anyone have suggestions besides soup and mashed potatoes. If I liked soup, this would be the perfect diet wouldnt it :)

I did make deviled eggs and blend them in the food processor. Overcooked carrots I didnt blend but chewed like crazy. That was the most taste I have had in awhile :)
Thanks guys!

Good Morning All, I am pre op but on liquid shakes and one meal a day for 6 weeks.  I make a side dish of pureed baked sweet potato, greek yougurt and spices , I use chives and salt and pepper . light on the salt. after the baked potato cools slightly and it's peeled , I puree it all in the blender with some chicken broth to thin it to the texture you want.  and eat or sip it.
