Picking a Surgeon in MEXICO
I wanted to know who is a great surgeon for getting the SLEEVE and for a good price. I have heard of Dr. Joya and Dr Alvarez both charging $10,000 all inclusive and both have several thousand surgeries under their belts. Are there any other good Dr's worth looking into for the money? USA included.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Joe

I had surgey in Mexico with Dr Almanza for $5200. Not everyone likes him, but I loved him and had a lot of fun. There are a lot of good surgeons down there. You can get better prices for the Dr's you mentioned by the way. You need to go through the clinics or hospitals themselves and not advance coordinators who up the price and make a few thousand off you and then book you through the clinic. They are a bit like travel agents, only they charge more. Good luck!

I have chosen Dr.Almanza, have heard alot of great things about him from his patients on these boards. You can look at holly kims profile for a very good detailed description and lots of pics of her experience there. There are alot of great surgeons both in mexico and the us. Just research alot and go with who feels right to you.
I had my sleeve done with Dr. Aceves, you should check him out, the service and the attention were great and the price too. I suggest you give Nina a call - she's the patient coordinator and she'll give you all the necessary info. I highly recommend him and his staff. They are professional and reliable. if you need more information please feel free to ask. Goodluck!!!!
I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali, He was very good and I liked the fact that everything is done in a hospital, from pre op testing to recovery, that meant alot to me. I am from Canada, where things are super clean and I think we could still take some lessons from that hospital in that regard, there are several co-ordinators but i dealt with Nina, I will be talking to Dr.Aceves in the future for a reference for plastics if required, he told me that he has a few people that meet his standards and for a fair price. That speaks volumes because I think his standards are pretty high.
Good luck

I went to Aceves for my band and my revision to a sleeve. I don't know what they are charging now, anywhere from $8750 to $9500. Rumbaut is good too, not sure what he charges. Ungson is another really good surgeon.
You need to stop and think about location, the US gov't is warning about specific cities in MX right now. You need to think about a clinic vs. a hospital. You need to consider reputation and experience. Most of all you can NEVER believe patient coordinators! OMG they lie! Verify everything you are told and see with your own eyes if a doctor is board certified, works out of a licensed hospital, etc.
There is a coordinator out there claiming that to be board certified in MX is different from the US. She claims the MX doc gives the MX gov't $15,000 and he is board certified. That's a load, a flat out lie. They take a test and if they pass, they are board certified... Just like the US. She's also telling people that FACS is for show and has no real value. Another flat out lie, her surgeon just doesn't qualify to be board certified or FACS. You have to meet specific requirements to be FACS.

I believe it was YOU back on the Yahoo boards when you were bipley that claimed FACS meant nothing. That it was just something a surgeon could pay for. But that was before your doc got an FACS...lol! You are nothing but a shill. Everyone has your number. You treat people so badly and tell them they are idiots is they disagree with you! You claim to not be paid by your doctor. Everyone knows that he has a very big referral program. If you're not being paid for all the time you spend shilling, then you're stupid! Now go ahead and trash my doctor, that's what you do. Only you see, I really don't care. He can take care of himself. It's not my problem to defend him. Unlike you, I'm not getting paid. People, do you own research. This person has no inside information, that is unless she is getting it from the doctor she works for. You know how reliable that must be! Now go ahead deary and start your rate! lol! You are quite mistaken.
Troll.

Time for you to go bye bye. Life is just too short for people like you. This is exactly what I hate about the sleeve board.
