I usually get the un-flavored which has a small fraction of the carbs & sugar, although the flavored ones are pretty good too.

The best place I have found to buy kefir by far is trader Joe's. They have quarts of both flavored and unflavored for about $2.50, where it is nearly double that at Kroger's.

(Trader Joe's is also the best place to buy Greek yogurt. About half of Kroger's for their 16 oz container too.)

There is lots of info on the Internet about Kefir.  It is a really good pro-biotic.  "Kefir" in Croatian or whatever language from the caucus mountains, means "Good Feelings".  My sleeve was always happy with it, and I drank it before surgery, and 2 days after surgery too.

I actually make my own now. I bought some "kefir grains" which are the little critters which turn milk into kefir. they look like clumps of cooked rice.  Just add milk and let them work overnight, and bam -kefir.

The unflavored only has about 8 grams of carbs per cup.  And lots of calcium.

It has a flavor somewhere between plain yogurt and buttermilk.  It is a unique flavor though.

When I drink any of the flavored Kefir from Lifeway or Trader Joe's, I mix it with some of the plain as it is a bit too sweet for me now straight.  This also cuts the carb count down some.
