MSRA infections and no sleeve at all from Mexico
I have a friend who is looking into VSG, and god love him, he is a man of his own mind. LOL
Anyway, I told him to do his own research, don't take just my word on how fabulous Dr Alvarez is.
So....there was a lady on here, that was told she had the sleeve, when in fact she had not. Does anyone recall who she was and what Dr she used in Mexico?
Also, there is a lot of ppl coming home with MSRA and other infections from the same Dr in Mexico....I can't remember which one it was.
Can anyone help me out with this, so I can at least give the man this information?
Thanks.....plus it may help others who would want to and should know these Dr's prior to making their decisions.

Dr Mario Alberto Almanza Reyes is the mexican doctor with all the infections. Also check verticalsleevetalk.com, there are a few threads about him there.
Best advise for your friend- research research research. You can find a doc in the US with decent prices AND a great track record. I was able to have my surgery done 45 min from my home and be back in my own bed in under 24 hrs with an awesome doc and amazing follow-up care IN HIS OFFICE. No mexico surgery patients can say that.

Serritia is a common bacteria that occurs in hospitals everywhere.
Good luck to your friend in choosing his surgeon.

there's no reason for me to post in this.
I have no first hand experience..
it was wrong of me.
No one can really speak for this unless they HAVE experienced it.. and some really great sleevers have had great experiences..

It's sad that the hospital let it go on for longer than week..and was REACTIVE instead of proactive.

and you're the one who makes the commissions as well, right?
IMHO,it is a shame that people keep speaking about the incident as if it is STILL occurring, which it is not.
They were as proactive as any other facility and staff and as far as they knew it was appropriate. Infections can usually ONLY be reacted to reactively. This facility REACTED to the situation and increased their protocols so Can be PROACTIVE now.
Really, that is all anyone can do.

Those of us who choose to have our surgeries in MX are well aware that we will have our follow up care by our PCP's and or a local surgeon who accepts "adopted" patients, those who have had surgery elsewhere. It is widely thought that NO surgeon will accept a patient of another surgeon but this is misinformation. I already have a local surgeon lined up for my after care if his skill should be needed.
IMHO, if you haven't been to Mexico for surgery you shouldn't gossip about what goes on there.

There were several patients who posted their experience with infections during October, November and December 2009.

Hi
The lady who said she had a bad vsg done was with Dr Liza Maria Pompa Gonzales in Tijuana.
I have researched many Surgeons in Mexico and am Having VSG done with DR Aceves he has the best record and has had no leaks with over 3000 surgery's done. Check him out his ad is on the right side of the page. His surgery's are done in a hospital with an ICU available this should be very important.
Take care.
Steve.

Had my surgery in Long Beach, Calif, and my husband had his with Dr. Aceves - Dr. Aceves and the Mexican hospital were the best of the two by far. Only concern - Dr. A doesn't like to prescrive Actigall to prevent gall bladder problems and my husband needed to have his removed - my surgeon did prescibe it for me and I didn't have any gall bladder problems - maybe I wouldn't have anyway...but that's the only thing I'd consider if you want to try asking Dr. Aceves about getting it or have your PCP here prescribe it for you as a preventative measure.
