I chose Dr. Aceves & couldn't be happier.  Now to answer your questions...

1. Have you had any complications since you came home and if you did could you find a bariatric doctor that would even talk to you once they found out you had surgery in Mexico.
No complications.

2. What did your primary care physician have to say, did they tell you to find a new physician.
My PCP was a bit hesitant when I told her I was going to have VSG & have it done in MX.  She asked me some questions about the surgeon's stats & stuff.  I made sure she would support me & do any labs/tests I might need post op.  She's been wonderful since my surgery & is very happy with my progress.

3. Do you even need to follow up with a bariatric surgeon once you get home.
No need for any follow up from a bariatric surgeon unless you do have complications.  The only follow up I've needed has been labs that my surgeon recommended.

4. Did anyone have a leak while you were there and they had to open you up to restaple or glue?
To my knowledge, Dr. Aceves has never had a leak reported.

5. Are they prepared for emergencies during surgery, like what, I don't know, just asking.
I know some of these questions could be answered by the Dr.s office but I wanted to ask actual patients. From the reviews of this doctor I will be in confident hands....but what happens when you get home and need surgicial follow up?
Dr. Aceves practices in a full hosptial, not a clinic or surgery center.  Almater is fully equipped to handle an emergency situation.  If the surgeon you are considering does not practice in a full hospital, be sure to ask what actions will take place in the event of an emergency & how far away a full hospital is.
