Belly button leak
Hi all:
I hope this is not TMI but one of my incisions was done through my belly button. It was bruised and scabbed big time. Now that that has gone/fallen away, a little amount of clear fluid w/no smell or anything seems to seep out from the very inside of my BB now and again. Is that part of the normal healing process? I'm a little unnerved. Nothing hurts there and when I touch my belly button or put my finger in it (sorry if TMI but it's clean!) it seems normal enough. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Thanks for the reassurance; now I can wait with ease until I see my surgeon for post-op f/up next Tuesday. And thanks for the congrats; I feel great and it's incredible what 14 lbs loss can mean; it changed my BMI and I've gone down one dress size. I'm so excited.
Also, a BIG thank you for remaining so active on this board and being such an encouraging presence and cheerleader for all of us, old and new alike. Best wishes for a very healthy and happy new year!!!

As gross as this may sound...keep that lil belly button clean as it is a breading ground for thrush as you lose weight..... it's a common problem with sudden weight loss..lol..... so errrr, it might just need to be soaped 'and dris' regularly and a lil touch of anti fungal cream or power would be better (like a foot tinea powder) if it gets too wet!
Thanks for the advice. I don't want to be growing any 'shrooms out of my tummy

I had prolonged leaking out of one incision (didn't have a belly button one). It was a little freaky, like what KIND of fluid and where is it coming from exactly? I know I have blood in my body but this was a clear fluid. (I like to KNOW stuff). Finally, the doctor explained it this way: "When you get a blister on your foot because a shoe has been rubbing to the point of pain, and when you pop that blister, clear fluid comes out. The clear fluid is what our bodies manufacture and send to a trauma site to cushion the injury and start to heal it.."
It is all good and normal. Q-tips might help your belly button cleaning efforts.

That's a great explanation, thanks. I called my surgeon's office today and they said to swab the incision gently with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. So that's what I'm going to do.
