Everyone else is eating.

I know what you mean,  My fiance was cooking up a storm while he was taking care of me, and I was plain ole jealous.  I wanted some too.

It didn't help that he ate constantly in between meals (I had not noticed this prior to surgery.)

Those were the hardest times for me, too.  I had 4 kids I had to prepare food for every day...that was very difficult!  But, the days went by & I survived.  And now here I sit at 5 months post op & just 7 lbs from goal.  It was SO worth it!

Just hang in there!

Today is so bad.  I didn't even get out of bed until after 11.  It's like a faucet that I can't seem to turn off.  It is not regret.  I'm believing that it is part of letting go of a life-time addiction.  Thank you for the support.

Many of us experienced the emotional issues after surgery.  Mine was very similar to the way I felt after having each of my kids.  I think it's very normal to be an emotional wreck after any surgery.  Just be sure to get plenty of rest & get in all of your liquids!

All very normal Lynne! After all, we didn't get to the point where we need WLS because we hate food! It does get much better. The first 2-3 weeks are the hardest. I have always thought of that time frame as the mourning period. It can be very overwhelming, but once you start feeling better physically and the weight starts really dropping all those pesky feelings will go away!

I talked to the ladies at my surgeon's office.  They helped me to understand that I NEED to distance myself from the food given the issues I'm having right now, and the fact that I CAN distance myself.  That is what I did this afternoon.  When it came time for dinner to start being prepared, I left.  My son called me when they finished dinner and was cleaning up.  Worked really well.  I feel good tonight.

I know it's normal, but even knowing that, it's great to have the support here.  Again, thank you.

Lynne, that is so true. One thing I noticed over and over was that once the food was out of sight, it became out of mind! Very good advice! That also gets less necessary as time goes by.

Are you far enough out for mushies? You can make your own version with ricotta, mozarella, parmesean and marinara!! Like manicotti without the noodles. It's very satisfying and it will be like you're eating what they are.

The calorie deficit and hormone changes are enough to make you moody for now, so lighten up on yourself ... and give yourself a hug. You did this for your health, and soon you'll find that your social situations do not revolve around food anymore the way they did before.Food will be there, you'll soon be able to have what others do, but just a lot less.

Hang in there.

Meg
