United Healthcare now covers sleeve
Hi folks,
Normally I hang out on the Lap Band board, but I thought this might be of interest here.
Yesterday we were notified of a change in policy for United Healthcare patients, now reflecting recognition of sleeve gastrectomy as an effective treatment for obesity. They are now apparently allowing coverage of the procedure for those who have surgical weight loss benefits.
While we have not yet had time to get any actual approvals for the sleeve through United, this is certainly encouraging!

That's awesome news. I sure hope that BCBS Federal Employee Program does the same. Thanks for sharing DrC.

DrC - thanks for posting this; I put a link to this message on the Insurance forum, since the VSG forum moves so fast.
Unfortunately, my company has a WLS exclusion in their new policy. I'm NOT happy about it... but moving forward regardless.
