You know the drill... 70+ fitness vids that I am going to DO and REVIEW in 30 days.
Day's been hellish. Last night I ate 5 of those mini-quiche bites at the bachelorette party and had a spoonful of icing that was on a cupcake (did not eat the cupcake though) and had a glass of merlot.
We went to all our old bars and ran into everyone and just... whoa.
I smoked 3 camel lights. ugh! totally felt it this morning.
Was late for bootcamp this morning by just a few minutes and some clown of a substitute instructor made me run two more laps than everyone else AND do the drill that I missed the first few minutes. We did not get our timed on our run today because the regular dude wasn't there so I was kind of peeved, I'd like to see if I improve or where I am now.
My ass hurts, my knees hurt, my arms hurt and I think I pulled something in my general crotchular area. So I knew I had to do something a little more gentle for my video review.
Thanks so much for the feedback, I'm definately gonna get to the Zumba next week and yeah, I was thinking about doing the blog thing, I re-post these to my LJ, I guess I'll slap them onto a dedicated more accessible blog for posterity. OH and
YOU SHOULD NOT SKIP OUT ON BELLYDANCING!
I'm not kidding, it's like the unofficial fat chick sport, I can't believe so many of ya'll are scared to try it.  Its origins are woman-centric and in the middle east and north africa its the CURVY CHICKS that do it. Screw what yur stomach looks like, it will shrink, and it's also a part of the dance!
Look up some vids on youtube or something. Stop with the body shame and get otu there and have fun. Oh and in class not everyone exposes their belly, and not even in performance.
DO IT DO IT, you sexy thangs you.

I'm hosting 2 out of town guests at my house and running errands for the bride and I took her uncle from out of town to a local dialysis appointment. That was a big wakeup call for me to give thanks for the opportunity to get sleeved. I'm sure I would have become diabetic in a few years if I kept gaining, and I did NOT want to end up having to go to dialysis once a week like a lot eventually do. He was generally happy to be alive, but just so tired and weary of having to keep up with the appointments and be strict to the gram about everything he ate or drank and the times he did. I told him about my sleeve since he divulged so much information to me and he just went on and on about how he wished he could have done something like that. He's a thin man now, but the damage has already been done.

I was joined by my friend Callie when I did this video. I thought that was so cool, too, because Callanetics is named for Callan Pickney. lol. ok, whatever, it's steal a neato coincidence albeit cheesy..

**** I've rambled and I have a rehearsal, a manicure, dinner and some other crap to get to so I'll fill in the rest of this Sunday, but THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

AM/PM Callanetics
- vhs

Callanetics is the coolest **** ever. I bought the Callanetics book waaay back in high school around '90 and would do all of the exercises in the book and my butt, which was nice but not as perky as I wanted it (if you can't already tell, I'm OBSESSED with butts and have been my whole life). So I did the exercises in her book and in 2 weeks my butt was taking better shape and after 3 weeks I could bounce quarters off of it and it sat higher (mom's side of the fam has kinda droopy butts so I inherited half of that).

Anyway, Callan's kind of this mythological figure with me because i've read her book so many times. She was this little Southern debutant (even had her deb ball photos in the book) during the 50's and really wanted to get out of the south and away from her family, who were at the time basically big rich racist ex-slaveowning (that's how they got all their money) anti-civil-rights buttheads who were big on all that showy bullcrap like southern gentility bloodlines and deb balls and dating the right person. She's had scoliosis her whole life and pretty much lived in pain and wanted to be a dancer so her parents let her stay in ballet. At 18 got fed up with her fam and cut herself off from her parents and went backpacking around the world (hahah. total 60's rich kid hippie story, it was a cool read). Well, she ended up dehydrating herself and even though she was underweight, she looked all bloated and her legs sagged. So she moved to new york and started trying to get back dancing again (she's a ballerina) but she was in such bad shape. So she developed these ballet-based exercises that are huge deep muscle contractions but VERY VERY GENTLE.

This stuff is not rigorous but it IS strenuous. It is HARD if you do it at the right level. I'd definately recommend this for older folks. BUT it is still very very very very effective for the younger folks. There is no sudden movement, everything's gentle, but it is DEEP muscle work and you WILL feel it. She likes to work to fatigue. She has several different types of people from her classes in it from teens to 70's. Lots of gentle floorwork and NO BOUNCING. These are al individual exercise, no aerobic dance playboy bunny routines. You do strength and flexibility the whole time so there's no breaking up into cardio sections or anything. She has LOTS of back patients in her classes.

She has the BEST legs and she's in her late 50's in this vid. Better than Sid Charisse. Seriously! She doesn't wear hose, just a modest feminine leotard and I'm telling you she is FIRM.

The video was broken up into 2 sections, AM workout and PM workout - 20 minutes each. We did them both (it's weird to workout with another person. My friend works out a lot at her gym and these were very different and relaxing for her but she still "felt" it).
It's kind of like Pilates, but not as complicated. She shows a wealth of modifications since she has so many different ability levels in her class.

you don't need a barre at home, you just need a stool or a chair.

THESE MAKE YOUR BACK FEEL GREAT! Sorry this is so disshevelled but it's a craycray day.

Okay gotta run thanks for keepin my ass in line!
