Weight Loss Surgery card for restaurant discounts?

Today I went with my family to a Chinese restaurant in the area.  I tried to explain to the manager that unlike my husband and son, I didn't want the buffet and I just wanted a tiny bit to eat bec of my surgery.  He asked me for my card.  He said I can get a card from my doctor and get discounts at some restaurants.  Anyone know anything about this?  I haven't heard of it 'til now, but still don't know anything.

Kahne, Just ask next time you go see Dr. H and they'll give you one.  When I was there for my last visit someone asked for it and Sue passed one out to everyone in the waiting area that wanted it.  It just looks like a business card with a statement on the back that you had the surgery and need a reduced portion size.  It's signed by the doctor.  See you soon....

Here is a link to my recent post on the same subject, someone helped me out to print one here on this website, my local chinese buffet also honors the card! They charge me half price. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/VSG/a,messageboard/action, replies/board_id,5463/cat_id,5063/topic_id,3321917/page,1/#2 5726401

That's amazing that a restaurant owner actually asked you for a card. I've tired to use it three times and the average person (or maybe restaurant manager/worker) doesn't even know the term "barriatric". My surgenon's office gave me the card. Has his name on it and phone number as well as a quote asking for half a portion at a reducted price due to my "barriatric surgery". My card has been a complete joke. Totally useless.

I used mine this weekend. I went to Double Dave's pizza. I went in there to talk to the manager before we went and said yes to it and seemed interested in it. I refuse to go to any type of buffet place if they wont let me discount. I explained to the manager that I will not even be able to eat one piece of pizza, so we don't like to go to buffets unless they will accept this. It never hurts to ask first, or make a call, before going some place. He let me pay the kids price. Teresa
