I had VBG in 1997. It was and still is one of the best things I've ever done! I had a loss of 130 lbs within 8 months. After 5 years was pretty much settled in at 110 lb loss until 3 years ago when I hurt my ankle really bad. Over the past 3 years I gained 50 lbs which is no fault of the surgery itself. Excerise was nearly none due to ankle pain, and also allowing some bad food choices back into my daily life was the problem. Over the past 3 months I have completely changed my eating habits and cut out all processed foods. It may suprise you as it did me but I have NO cravings at all for junk food! I am currently still down 88 lbs from my starting weight 15 yrs ago.

Topic: RE: Any band-to-sleeve complication/issues/horror stories?
You're welcome. I wish someone would post something. 2 years ago, when I got my band, I couldn't find many negative stories. Now I'm finding that it's considered completely common for banders not to know when they can eat vs when they'll barf. Why people put up with that is beyond me (I consider it an unacceptable lifestyle) but have had more than 1 person tell me "oh, that's just the way it is with a band."

Are you have the same problems or something else? My Upper GI came back as "no problems found" - no slip, no hernia, no excessive restriction. But I refused to continue living like this so it WILL come out. I just don't know if I'll revise or give up on surgical options.

Hi Effini, I am also hoping to do what you are planning and would like to know if there are complications or negatives also. Thanks for bringing up this question.

wow sounds like you did great with losing all your weight.  how long did it take for you to reach your goal?  any cons to having the sleeve?

Topic: Any band-to-sleeve complication/issues/horror stories?
After my 2nd round of band complications, it looks like my surgeon will be recommending a revision to gastric sleeve.

I can find lots of success stories but very little about complications, trouble adjusting, it not working... etc.

Has anyone out there experience ANY negatives with a band-to-sleeve revision?

Topic: Checking in 3 and a half years out
Well time flies!  I have not been on boards for some time, seems like life gets in the way.  Im now a Texas gal up in Ft Worth not in LA but love it up here.  It is strange though because the people here did not know the overweight me.  What they see now to them is the normal me.  Seems like every time I go home though someone will ask if I am still losing and tell me to stop (I have been in the same 5 lb range for almost 2.5 years now)  I do have to watch the junk food.  I seem to crave it when I travel and with the 8 hours between here and home I am on the road a while eveyr 4-6 weeks.  it has been a little bit of a battle this past year keeping myself in check for the travel time.  Early this year I went up to 138 and panicked.  Im back to the 135 lb point again and really want to drop back to the low end of my weight about 132  I look the best between 130-135 but feel better when I have a litte cushion from the 135 although its mostly phycolgical  Life is so much better at goal but I still need plastics.  DH was out of work for 6 months and we moved 2 times in the past year so plastics are not in the budget yet.  Hope in a year or so I can have the overhaul I want but in the mean time at least I look decent IN clothes LOL  (no one but me and DH need to know how the other side of me looks!)

Topic: RE: new to site - leg soreness, what to eat?????
I'm 14 days out and I have the same leg soreness you describe (although it's a little better today).  Feels kinda like I did too much walking a day or two ago, even though I haven't overdone it at all.  I did a lot of hiking before surgery, and notice that there seems to be quite a loss of muscle mass in my upper legs.  I'm just taking it as part of the surgery and healing experience.

I'm pretty sick of pureed foods already (been on them for a week - two more to go) but they sure tasted great the first few days. Have made sugar free chocolate pudding with a mashed banana and a couple of scoops of protien powder - still like that and cream soups are still nice.

Good luck!
