Hi Laura, Thanks for the great advice and info. I don't know about this person "eggface", but will check it out. Did not know all the other info either like taking one sip of water every 15 minutes and eating only 4 oz of food in an hour....well, that will be a big adjustment, for sure!

I do take protein powder. I have some leftover from when I was on THAT diet....through my health insurance, so am using them up...ha ha. Sounds like I need to give the Isopure strawberry orange banana a try. I also really hate those bottled drinks too....blech! I have some packets of UNJURY too that I got in the meetings as a handout. I'll be trying those soon.

Yeah, September 11, huh....can't forget that date. Well, wishing you the best too. I've lost about 4 pounds so far.....hoping to keep it up. My husband always brings goodies home, jeez! Yesterday he brought donuts. Hard transition after trying to gain to make my BMI go up so I could qualify for the surgery.....sheesh.

Take care and hope your have a nice weekend.....Kelley

Oh, man, the knees... that was the worst part of regaining my 35lbs last  year. All of the knee pain returned! Besides the obesity, I have Runner's Knee in each of them, which isn't arthritis but feels a lot like it. Weight loss is pretty much the only solution.

I'm quite surprised that this new place (SmartDimensions, also called Lite & Smart Dimensions) is NOT requiring a pre-surgery liquid diet, to shrink my liver. In fact, no diet at all?!?! I plan to attempt to go on protein-shakes only again anyway. When I did it before the band, the first 3 days were hard but it was no problem after that.

Do you take protein powder to help you diet? I LOVE Isopure power (strawberry/orange/banana) and even drink that "just because". But avoid their bottled drinks, they're horrible (and overpriced, at $4 a bottle!!).

I've been re-reading all of TheWorldAccordingToEggface, from her first entries forward, so that I have a better idea what I'm in for. Sleeve is so drastic compared to band! I have post-surgery guidelines like: 1 SIP of water every 15 min (this seems the hardest to me because I currently gulp liquids); 7 weeks before returning to solid food. Taking an hour to eat 4 oz of food (min of 10 minutes between bites). Eeegads!!

I hope you make your Sept 11 (oi!) meeting and everything moves forward for you!

Hi Laura, Wow, that is great news. Am very happy for you...making good progress! I'm glad you like your new doctor and the people there are so good. End of September is also fantastic for a date! Coming up real soon! I never heard of NEW. I can tell you're excited!

I told my two sisters (who are both thin) about my plans for surgery. One sister was supportive and the other was trying to give me advice on NOT doing it...she asked: have you tried "Weigh****chers"? Oh man, I was so upset with her!  Anyway, I got her straightened out now (it happened last week.)

Did my EKG and have been trying to lose weight now....supposed to lose some before surgery, as you know. I have only lost 3 so far, but it's a start. I am hoping for a late September surgery date too. I was out of town with my Dad and missed a required meeting on August 14, so now have to wait until Sept. 11 to go to the next one...darn, but it's okay. Gives me more time to try to lose more weight and also get my blood sugars into more control before the blood test.

Anyway, it's all good. I can't wait til surgery because my knees have been killing me. I spoke with a nurse and she said that for every pound you lose, it's like losing 4 pounds on your knees! Wow.

Thanks for staying in touch. We gotta keep cheering for each other! YAY!  :)

Hi all,

I am in the process of starting a support group in the Culpeper, VA area.  I need to know who is interested in coming.  The director of the Wellness Center is willing to let us use a room but he wants to see some interest.

What evenings, times and how often would you want to meet?  Let me know.

GOOD NEWS!! I saw a different surgeon last Friday. I LOVED him and the staff and everything seems to be full-steam ahead. I might have revision surgery by the end of September!

I'm still trying to get my patient records from the previous surgeon. At worst, it looks like I might have to do another psych consult - but I can live with that. NO crazy fees or requirements or screwed up appts or anything. And the surgeon, who I was worried might not have a lot of experience? He was just named Chief of Surgery for the hospital - so I have a good feeling about him.

Polar opposite experience from what I've been dealing with at NEW (in Costa Mesa). I'm so excited again! Had to give up a potential new job (it was contract; no insurance) but that's okay. I can suffer through this place if it means having $100k medical bill covered!!

How are you doing?

Hi,

Thanks, I want people to understand that they do not need other people's approval.  This truly is about them and NO one else.  Glad you enjoyed reading it.

Take care,
