Congrats!!! I had my surgery 6 days before you on 3/9. I'm down 96 lbs. But the last 3 weeks I've only lost a pound per week so I've cut back some calories and increased my protein. It's been an exciting journey so far, and I know the road ahead will be just as exciting. Good Luck Alysia

Topic: RE: Help!!! I've hit a plateau!!!!
Hi Karen, I am more concerned about the fact that you are stressed out at work and that you are always tired and feel "dingy". It seems to me that these issues may be the "cause" of a plateau. Are you eating enough? Are you getting enough water? Are you exercising regularly? Sometimes plateaus happen because our body just needs to "catch-up". Sometimes we need to increase our exercise efforts as our body becomes more physically fit. Somtimes we need to adjust our eating habits as time passes and we start slipping back to old habits. Sometimes something in our life is stressing us out and affecting our ability to take proper care of ourselves. I have times of plateaus -- when I hit a plateau I go through my profile to find out what I have been doing differently. I think it is important that we keep a journal (or use your OH profile) as we continue our WLS journey. It is helpful to look back to see what changes have helped and to give one time to reflect on what is really important. I also advocate the use of Fitday.com (or something like it). When I reach a plateau I will track everything I eat for 1-2 days to see if I need to adjust something. It may just be that I need to eliminate a "new" favorite food that is too high in calories or too low in protein. Again... if there is stress in you life is there someway that you can lessen it? I truly believe that being stressed at work will affect your ability to take proper care of yourself as you continue your WLS journey. I realize that some of us just have stressful jobs and there is not anyway to lessen that stress -- but you could find ways on how you let that stress effect you. If I could ask you one question it would be... "Why do you think you have reached a plateau?" -- Whatever the answer is... that is probably the key to your plateau! Best Regards, Sharon -117#

Topic: RE: Any post-op "old-timers"???
Hi Kim, My thoughts on the "old-timers" is that they are probably out there. Tammy (for sure) and Jana (I think) are 3 years out now and they frequent the board. In the past the board was not as active. I have been going through profiles of people that had VBG surgery further in the past and am emailing them to come join us on the board. It is my thoughts that if we reach out for them they might just reach back as to us. Sharon

To add a photo to your listing (which will also be added to your profile) you need to send a digital photo to the address below. If you do not have a digital photo send them an email and ask for the mailing address and they can probably scan and put the photo into your profile for you. FYI -- members of this site volunteer their time to add the photos... with that said it may take a little while for your photo to actually get added. It is certainly nice to have a picture trail on your profile though. [email protected]

Debbie: Thanks so much for your encouragement. I'm so sorry you were denied. Have you appealed yet? Maybe you need an example of a really good appeal letter? I'm sure someone in the VBG Forum has one or has access to one. An Iowa girl, eh? We're great, aren't we? I live in Des Moines. Except for 6 years, I've lived here all my life. It was a great place to raise my kids! Good luck to you! Mary
