Sara, You definitely need to find some other way to occupy your time! I notice that when I'm busy...I don't even have time to think about food...and then I don't miss it either. Like Sharon said...find a hobby, go out and do something. Or, find what is drawing you to the food and try to change it, or I've come to avoid it actually. I don't keep snacky stuff or junk food in the house...so there's nothing easy to grab. And, you've got to exercise!! ~Kim VBG 9/1/04 -36

Hi Duane!! Welcome home Duane!!! Congratulations to you. Very nice to hear from YOU! Sorry to here that you experienced so much pain. I think you are right on the "pushing yourself" thing. When I pushed myself I was much better the next day as well. Take it easy, keep on walking and make sure you get enough liquids in so you do not get dehydrated. Now you just need to get aquainted with your "new" stomach. Again... congrats on meeting us on "the other side"! Best Regards Sharon -120#

Hi Gloria, My cat is in HEAT and will NOT STOP going MMMEEEEOOOOWWWW at the TOP OF HER LUNGS!! Swear she is driving me insane. That is why I woke up so early today. The trip sounds SUPER fun. Wish I could go this year. It just does not work out for me financially. However I am saving and hoping they will have a trip in 2006. By then I should have enough money. Who knows... maybe I will even have a "honey" by then. My weightloss has really slowed down. Believe it or not I am ECSTATIC if I lose 4 pounds a MONTH! I figure that I am probably going to lose about 1.5 pounds per week now -- even so I will still meet my end goal of 175 (revised from 190) in May of next year. Quick enough for me! I am hoping to have a TT (tummy tuck) after I meet my goal of 175. After that I will gift myself a "sister-lift". Still have to go for my 1 mile walk tonight. I am going to walk while my son and his friends are at the "haunted house" tonight. Back to listing more stuff on Ebay... have a nice night! Sharon -120#

Just got home. The dr. said i could go yesterday i said i felt like one more day would help man was i ever right i finally was able to sleep through the night and in the morning i told the nurses to let me sleep. The first days where tough. I questioned why i did it. I consider my self a tough guy and i was realing in pain it only got worse when the morphine stopped. Cant say enough of getting up and walking you really have to push yourself this is what i feel helped me get better. there where others who had same operation same day and they were a mess. Hard coughs and throwing up i really believe that my constant walking helped me through this i would try to walk 20 min before my pain meds and then i would sleep good for a few hours.

Topic: Anyone going on the cruise?
Just wondering if anyone is planning on going on the OH sponsored cruise in September 2005?? I am seriously considering going to the one in September 2006. I am starting to save money now in anticipation. Sounds like a fun time. I think it would also be fun to be on a cruise with a group of WLS'ers. Sharon

Goodmorning Sara, Don't be too hard on yourself. You are only 3 weeks post-op. If I remember right I was still battling my "head-hunger" at that time. It took awhile before food released its hold on me. In the beginning my brain still wanted to eat my huge meals. It took awhile before my small portions looked "normal". Once you get to that stage dealing with food becomes less of an issue. One thing you certainly do not want to do is take up a new "bad habit". Let me ask you this... were you a "grazer" pre-op? If you were then you are going to need to relearn a new habit to replace that one. If you were not than you just had a bad day, which is only 1 day so don't freak out. Were you able to determine what was making you eat all day?? Were you bored?? Lonely??? Stressed?? What were the feelings? Usually recognizing and dealing with the cause of the feelings creating your bad behavior is the first step to curing it. Figure that out and you will be okay. And sometimes you can even try replacing the behaviour you are trying to change with a negative action... i.e. I bite my tongue and lip when I am concentrating, mad, happy, sad (you get the picture?). I don't want to do it because to be honest it is down right ugly when I do it. So now to break myself of this LIFELONG habit every time I catch myself doing it I run down the front stairs (about 20 stairs) and back up. Trust me when I say... I get plain tired. But I certainly am doing it less. Now I many times think in advance.. NO... and I only think that because I don't want to run down the stairs!! Craziness or what?? Sending you love and strength! You can do this Sara!! Best Regards, Sharon -120#

Topic: RE: VBG done on military base??
Hi Brandi, I did not have my surgery done on a military base. I believe that "Lei" on the main messageboard is in the military. You might want to try posting your message as "WLS done on military base?" and see what types of responses you get from the RNY'ers. It might help to give you some insight into what you are looking for. Best Regards, Sharon -120#

Below is the link to the main messageboard. I believe that all of the surgeries (except RNY) have there own individual messageboard. The largest majority of users on this site have had RNY and use the link below. Give it a try! Best Regards Sharon -120# VBG http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/messageboard/
