Sarah, I think if you are craving it tht bad you should have a little and get it out of the way. Don't binge are anything, I think you will be very surprised at how little you really eat.

Topic: What do you do????
Good Afternoon Everyone I am almost 5 weeks out of surgery and I am doing really well. I am not sure how much weight I have lost as of today because I don't own a scale because I don't want to be obsessive, but at 3 weeks I was -26. I feel great, but I am having a craving for chocolate lately. I mean I really really want it and it's not like cravings that I got presurgery...it's really intense. I have not given in to temptation, but I am feeling weak and I don't know what I should do? Should I have a little? Should I keep denying my craving? Is there an alternative? I tried sugar free chocolate pudding and that didn't quite cut it I am not seeking permission to go get some chocolate I just need some guidance and support fromothers who have dealt with this before. I just got my period yesterday and I know that has something to do with it, but I really don't know what to do with this. I don't want to mess anything up this soon after surgery. Please help! Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks Hugs, Sara

Hi Allyson, This is what I ate yesterday Meals: Chicken Stew Potato Dill Soup (it was yummy) Malt O Meal Snacks: Granola Bar Granola Bar Doritos Chocolate Milk Walking: Four flights of stairs at the court house I think I ate a lot of food. But I feel pretty good about the choices. I would change the "Doritos" if I could and walked a little bit more. Sharon

Both surgeries are only a tool and we must be able to keep up the work to change your behavior. It's a nonending job. I know 2 rnys who are already gaining their weight back and just think how more invasive their surgery was. as I have said many times the vbg is the best think I have ever done. My year anniversary is coming up, I am at goal 140 from 257 and am feeling wonderdul. Because of deficiencies and absorption problems with rnys I would not have done anything differently. They also said you couldn't lose as much weight with vbg. I proved that wrongl

Ignore the negative stuff! Remember, all of these WLS procedures are just a tool. You have to do the work! You're doing great! Hang in there.

Topic: RE: Pureed food ideas
Hi Beth, You could puree cauliflower and add some garlic and cheese. I think some people call these Adkins friendly mashed potatoes I am making some this week. You could also try pureed creamed spinach. I am on soft foods now and during the pureed phase I did not have many veggies, but now I can't wait to be able to eat a salad. I have another wek before that is allowed Good luck to you!!! Hugs, Sara

Topic: Pureed food ideas
I have tried some squash (butternut and acorn) whipped up into a little puree, and I froze it in little tassy (sp?) pans (like small muffin tins). I also made soem homemade applesauce with pears and gala apples so I would know the sugar content and froze it the same way. Does anyone have any other veggie ideas for this 2 week time when I need to eat things pureed? Beth VBG Open 10-4-04
