I haven't dealt with your situation as I'm waiting for my VSG surgery next week. Sounds like you have a good physician who's anxious to see you get through this. The PICC line is the optimal way to administer the parenteral nutrition which you need to help sustain your nutritional needs. Keep that vision of how good you're going to feel in the end. Good luck.
40 pounds?!?! Amazing. I'm 1 1/2 weeks away from surgery and can't wait to post my stat's in another month. Thanks for the motivation and encouragement. Great job!

Dr. Aceves in Mexicali does VBG conversions to other wls procedures. I was reading on his page one day and saw that he typically recommends a conversion of VBG to duodenal switch, which is a sleeved stomach plus malabsorption. It has the highest excess weight loss percentage out there but requires very stringent vitamin taking. I am not sure he would recommend a VSG but I'm sure he would be able to probably do it since the VSG is part of the DS since the stomach is a "sleeve". If I were you, I'd contact him and perhaps even contact some other Mexico surgeons. He has some stuff written up on his website http://mexicalibariatric.com/revision.html
I was revised from a band to a sleeve on Tuesday. I am on a nothing by mouth diet, with parenteral nutrition, and drain also. I also have a PICC line in place. My doctor is being very precautious. I am miserable. I go back to see him on January 28th, and don't know how I will make it. Has anyone dealt with these issues? I need to know all will come out okay in the long run.
I had a VBG in 2001. Did good for several years except for vomiting when I don't chew enough. I lost about 75lbs. I have since regained all the weight plus more. Very upsetting. I would now like to have a VSG done. Has anyone done this? Is it possible? I would go to Mexico to have it done because I could actually afford it there. I am on a waiting list here in Canada but don't even know if they will do surgery and if I can get something done, I will have to wait one to two years for a surgery date. I feel like crap right now and want this done as soon as I can so I can lose the weight and start feeling like my old self.
Hi!!
I completed my first initial consult with the surgeon yesterday afternoon! Since I am a self pay patient (which my husband made possible) the only other things I have to do are the Psychiatrist Appointment and an Educational Class. In the mean time I will also meet with the NUT. As soon as I do those two things I will get my surgery date. I was told that I could have it very soon but my daughters birthday is on February 14th so I decided to set a goal with my case manager to have it between February 15th and February 28th 2013. I am very excited!!! I also have a bad mind set though...seeing how my entire life any time something good was about to happen something bad came along and made sure the good didn't happen. lol SO I am trying not to get too excited BUT OMG I am so freakin' excited!!!!!
