Topic: RE: Unusual Obsession?
Thanks for the information. I currently am doing all I can now, so that it will be an easier transition when I do have surgery.
Topic: RE: Unusual Obsession?
What can I tell you. I had significant hair loss that didn't stop for 9 mos. My hair got so thin you could see straight through it. My daughter who had bariatric surgery had no hair loss at all. My doctor says you have to take in at least 66 grams of protein to prevent this. So I started with the shakes and everything. Hair has thickened up and is doing fine now. Don't know if the protein helped or it was just time for it to grow back but if I had it to do all over again I would start with high protein.

I am a hair freak! I am a hair model, and I have been so concerned about preventing hair loss. It has even hinders me from having surgery, and when considering surgery dictates my surgery options. Any advice you can give?

I love your name! That is my daughters name. I will tell you I had the biggest panic attack on my first attempt at wls (I walked out right before they took me to the or) and the 2nd time I went to have wls they were ready for me.
Good luck with your journey!

Latonia,
I feel the exact same way as you do!! I am also 5 months out and feel like a total failure. I eat all of the wrong things and they don't make me sick either. How much weight have you lost? I have lost about 60 lbs and I know that it could have been alot more if it wasn't for my grazing all of the time. Chips, candy, ice cream, and anything else fattening just goes down much easier for me. I have tried to stay away from all of those things and it isn't easy!!! I am sooo scared of gaining all of the weight back!!! I will pray for you and I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone!!!! Please email me and maybe we can figure something out together!!!!

I will be praying for you!!!
Good luck and just think that it is NOT to late to change your eating habits!!!
Hugs,
Mary

Hi Latonia,
Please don't give up!!! You are still well within the time that you can lose a lot of weight. Do your best to keep a positive attitude cause that will serve you very well and keep you on the right track. Sometimes I eat things I "shouldn't" but I don't beat myself up. I just vow to do better at the next meal or snack. Take it one meal or snack at a time. To make big plans to never do it again isn't gonna work for most people. It doesn't work for me anyway
If you do slip up just take a walk or do an extra workout that week to make up for it. Exercise is the key to long term success. This is a process and no one changes overnight...if it were that easy we wouldn't be overweight. So don't beat yourself up! Stay positive! You can do this!!!!!!!!!
If you ever need encouragement or support please feel free to email me any time
Big hugs,
Sara

Thank you Annette for you encouragment. I am getting cold feet already. Sounds like you are doing very well!! And the metal staples do not bother you at all. That is good to hear.

Topic: Vertical Sleeve gastrectomy questions?
Hello everyone I am scheduled to have the vsg on 4/22/05 I am wondering if any others have had this surgery and are familiar with the recovery and weight loss capabilities is it more, less or equally effective as traditional vbg in the opinion of others that are familiar with it. any info from others or questions that I may not be thinking of for the surgeon would be helpful at this time. Just want to cover all bases before going in......Thank You Dee
Topic: RE: Help please!
Is this the only surgeon you have access to? It's much better to do all your research about the various options, decide which is best for you then find the best surgeon who does that procedure...

I saw your post and thought WOW looks like something I would ask! I have always had problems with metal allergies...
in fact I am allergic to almost everything (except food)
To make this short and sweet, I had open VBG on 8-13-04 and I have not had any problems at all!
Good luck I hope I have helped you even just a little
