Finally found the problem
I am new to posting here...but I do come to see what has been going on since I was told about this board about a month ago. A little history on what happened~I had VGB 7/17/05 and almost died from post-op complications due to smoking. The first few months were so-so with losing and then I got pretty discouraged and just stopped seeing the surgeon as I felt like I was disappointing him with no loss. I had the surgery due to back issues that are non-operable and my back issues weren't improving, either.
This last Feb I noticed a lump on the incision line and had to go back to my surgeon and had to have hernia repair done in early March. When I went back for this post-op visit, DH, Dr and myself started discussing the issue with my not dropping weight and he suggested I check my meds for pain management. That same day, I sat down and did not get up from my computer until I had read everything I could find on everything I was on. Then I went and spent a few hours with my pharmacist(live in a small town and we have gotten to know each other well over time! ) When I saw my pain care mgt doctor the following week, I let them know in no uncertain terms what I felt about being over-medicated and what I wanted to be weaned from.
I saw surgeon this past Friday and in the 3 weeks since I stopped taking 3 of the meds I was on, I was able to FINALLY start losing weight. It was only 9.5 lbs but that was a HUGE amount for me to drop since I had the VGB!!!
Thanks to all of you that have been a source of inspiration to me, without knowing it! I am so glad someone told me about this board! It has been a godsend!
