HI Everyone! New here But Got my date scheduled today for May 31st!!!
Hi! I had not even thought of doing the VBG until after speaking with my Doctor. I was totally sold on going with the Lapband but my husband and I decided this was best for me....We saw the doctor and already have the date scheduled for May 31st WOW that was super fast. In a way I wi**** were sooner so I would be able to stop thinking about all I have to do before then. I've got a bunch of tests to do and was able to call and set some of them up. I'm self Pay OUCH!!! but thats what's making it go faster....
Im very excited & scared.....
I have the surgery the 31st as I said the next week I have 3 things I need to do Daughters 8th grade graduation, her Bday (she will be 14 am I really old enough to ahve a 14 year old Geez I still feel 21!!) and I my husband leaves for Surgery on the 10th to Syria ( I want to take him the airport about an hour away)...Do you all think Ill be able to do all that right after surgery? The graduation and Bday I dont have to do that much for but would love to take him to the aiport on the 10th. How's the recovery? Ive had a c-section and I would think this would be easier. Any thoughts?
My husband will be gone for 40 days ..i wonder if I will loose any weight by the time he comes back..It would be nice to see a difference.
I would love and suggestions or thoughts you all have to offer.....
Thanks
Jamie C
Hi Jamie,
I didn't notice if you said that you were having an open VBG or not. I had an open VBG done, I was cut from my breast bone to belly button, lots of staples...it was a struggle to get up and move around the house and go for a walk for the first 2-3 weeks for sure. I was off work for 6 weeks but could have used a couple more.
Since then I have had a panniculectomy, hystorectomy and an ovary removed, the VBG was by far the hardest to recover from. I didn't drive for about 3 weeks, Dr's orders...Sounds like you have alot to do and I am guessing your not going to be feeling quite up to par so a word of advise...delegate, delegate, delegate!!!! Make sure you don't lift anythin too heavy...5-10 pounds depending on Dr. or you can get a hernia...I did!!
As for the weight loss in the first 40 days, for most people, this seems to be the time when the weight "falls" off it did for me and you could definately see a difference in that amount of time!!
Don't ru**** use this time for you to make sure you heal properly and adjust to your new life, it is a huge change, not easy but worth every minute!!
Nothing tastes as good as thin feel!!
Good luck...Stacey.AKA Canadian Chick!
I think everybody is different in they way they recover from things. I was out of work for three weeks after my surgery. But it two weeks of that just to be able to sleep in my own bed. Laying down made me feel like something was pulling inside. I slept sitting up in a chair. It was no fun at all! I'd say taking him to the airport 10 days after your surgery is pushing it. My advice is to get somebody to take him. You really don't want to risk complications while your husband is not there to help you.
