I had the VBG w/sleeve and am 13 days out. From what I was told.....I would have to drink small sips and slowly. I can drink pretty big drinks and not so slow. I also dont understand why I feel hungry a lot. I am still on full liquids but when I eat say..yogurt I can eat 6 oz of it with no problem. I do know that my band is a bit bigger because of a motility problem and I have and reflux. I am afraid that maybe I am too hungry or eating to much. Yesterday I had..water, crystal light, chicken orzo soup and only had the broth (except maybe 3 teaspoons of orzo) chewed and chewed and chewed. I then had one hand held can of tomato soup, one suger free jello and then later a 6 oz yogurt. Oh and I did have a protien shake with 50 grams protien. So, please tell me what you all think. I am just worried. Thanks so much, Teresa

I don't think you are over eating. The first month is a trying time, I thought I was doing everything wrong. Your still healing and your body is adjusting to what you can and can't tolerate. If you are eating to much, you will NOT be able to keep it down. I have lost 65 lbs and feel great-I have called my doctor many times with questions and concerns. Please email me if I can help with ANYTHING! Katrina

Hello I am 12 days post-op from vbg and you could not possibly be doing worse then me I feel like I made the wrong choice for my surgery type because I have already eaten things that I am not suppose to eat and I have not gotten sick from it. That is so embaressing but I hope I have not broken it Good Luck

hi jennifer; I too have just had my surgery 6 weeks ago, i have to tell you this it is a real struggle to keep away from the banned stuff, but whenever i thing of eating some illegal stuff such as sweet or high carb food i just tell mysef i havent gone through all this pain and expenses to ware it away that eaisly. I sweared to myself to keep away from any bad food mainly sweets until my birthday which is 5 months away, i do treat mysely every weekend by eating a bag of chips or so. All what i can tell in has to come from unside you, if you don't change your way of thinking , this operation will become a total loss, try to prepare and eat food you enjoy, if you crave sweets go for the unsweetened stuff they really tast good. Hope this helps. Mona

I think any non-solids are going to pass through quickly. Yogurt, cottage cheese, soups, etc are all the same. The point at the beginning is to learn NEW HABITS. Don't eat 2-4 ounces because you think it will fill you up, but rather because when you do get to solids, if you overeat...YOU WILL BE HUGGING THE PORCELAIN GODDESS...the john...chucking like there is not tomorrow. The point of the surgery is to give you a tool. Don't abuse it or it will stretch and become ineffective. I am only 9 weeks out, but I learned this lesson the hard way. teach your body to expect less intake. Stay on the fluids. And the earlier you embrace exercise the better. I lost 50.5 by 5 weeks out and didn't really do much exercise. Now I work out 5-6 time a week. I think it accelerates your weight loss and most importantly, it makes you feel better/happier. Keeps you out of depression by releasing the endorphins. I am not trying to preach, just help. Lastly, find a support group. There is nothing like talking about common subjects with others who have actually been there. Happiness... MKJ

Question? What is VBG with a sleeve? How is it different from VBG? If you know. Thanks. MKJ

Hi Mark, I already tried to respond once to this and messed it up....I hope this goes through. The sleeve gastrectomy is a surgery that removes part of the stomach. It removes the part that has Grenlin hormones (I am sure that is not spelled correctly) With it removed the Idea is that you should not be as hungry anymore. Things are going will with me. Its hard to get in enough water but I am trying. I am learning more about what foods I can and cannot tolerate. I am becoming comfortable with the new way of life and embracing it. I have decided that If I do not work this surgery to the best of my ability It will have all been done in vain. So, I am keeping my head up and my nose the the grindstone. I would still love to hear from you all on a regular basis. My email is [email protected] and also I go to the chat on here in the evening. My name on there is Teresa_T Oh and this is my profile link. http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/profile.php?N=T1117078270 Thanks everybody.....Teresa Have a great day!!!!
