Trouble with Staples?

I had a c section in Dec 2000. My doctor used staples to close the incision. I had a bad reaction and infection due to the staples. He told me for future surgeries to NOT have staples. So my question is this... has anyone else had a similar problem with staples and does this limit me from getting Gastric Bypass?

you may need to have it done Laprascopticly. 4 insisions were they put camera and other things in u you do the surgery, as for the staples you may need to go with RNY or something that doesn't use staples... look up all the information u can on all of the different types of surgery there is before deciding on this one, and if this is the one that your GP thinks is good for you, talk to the surgeon about the problem with Staples, your doctor will have better information for you . Best of luck

You should find a doc that does surgery laproscopic or if open is required for whatever reason, sutures can be done. Some do have reactions to the staples but that are other chioces available. I had lap surgery last week and to close me they used a special glue and steristrips. Shelly
