I had open VBG on Jan. 24 in Houston with Dr. Harberg and am happy to report that in 3 weeks, I've lost 24 lbs. However, now I have an infection at the suture site. There is a tiny hole that green stuff(YUCK) and bright red blood oozes out of. I am going to Dr. today to have him check it out, but was wondering if anyone else has had this and if so, what was done about it?

Hi Lia, I am glad you are seeing your doctor because the sooner you take care of it the better. I did not have an infection, but a freind of mine had an open RNY and she had and infection. It took some time, but it healed and she is totally fine. Don't worry I am sure the doc will take care of it and everything will be ok Hugs, Sara 356/278/175

Lia - Please let me know what Dr. Harberg tells you. I had surgery in March of last year and I STILL have a spot on my incision that pops up every now and then w/ infection. I'm convinced it's a suture that wants to come out, but not sure. I had Dr. Harberg as well, but haven't been back to him in a while. Thanks! -Wendy
