I had my VBG on Dec 1st, 2004. I am doing quite well- but for some rason I have had two (2) outbreaks of some sort of Gastro-Intestinal virus... throwing up for 4 or 5 days on end; diahhrea; nausea... At one point both times it was impossible for me to even keep down ice cubes- the only way I could drink water was with a piece of lemon wedged in the glass with it. Right now I am okay- no problems- but have any of you had these gastro- viruses after surgery? Honestly, in my life I'd never had a gastro-virus- both times I got it in January it knocked me off my feet for a week at a time... Am I suddenly more susceptible to these? -kathy

Hi Kathy, I am so glad you are feeling better. I have not had any incidence of stomach flu since surgeyr, but there are some nasty bugs out there this year. My father had to go to the hospital because he had a bad stomach flu that caused him to pass out and he hasn't had any WLS. I was lucky that I didn't get it. You may have been somewhat more suseptable to getting a virus because u just had surgery recently, but I don't think its something that will haunt u. I would say to check with your doctor just to be sure. Hugs, Sara 356/282/175
