As warned...

I have just gotten out of the hospital, 3 days in ICU and 3 days recovering. I got a pulmunary embolism(bloodclot in lungs). It is unknown when I got this, whether it was before surgery, because of surgery or after surgery. I think I over did the exercise and this freed the clot. I had trouble breathing and foolishly waited until morning before going to the hospital ER. I could have died. If you have any problems, DON'T WAIT, Get to ER. Many people die of PE and I was lucky. I would still have had the surgery, even knowing what I know now. My doctor warned me this could happen and he did everything he could to prevent it. I also did everything I was asked(walking, etc). I was prepared, just in case. If you feel there might be a problem, get to Emergency Room, do not wait, even a minute. Call 911 and go.

William, Thank God you are alright!! I have heard of this happening and I understand it is very serious. My doctor told us to NOT sit in a chair with our feet flat on the floor for over a few minutes. He said that was the way to get the kind of blood clots that kill. Scared me to death. That was my biggest fear. So glad to hear you are okay. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
