My surgeon had also told me that if I chose RNY that there would be a chance that he would not be able to perform that operation because I had so much FAT in my stomach area. In the end I chose VBG intentionally. There are not seperate pouch rules for us. I do have the "normal" pouch rules posted on my profile near the bottom. The amount of food you are eating sounds fine. If you do not feel sick or overly full than you are fine. Keep in mind that the food you are eating is "soft". Soft food always "sits" better in my pouch than hard food. And I can eat more "soft" food than I can other food. Good job on the walking and drinking water and congratulations on the weight loss! Sounds like you are doing fine. I assume you are going to see your surgeon regularly? Sharon ~~ Open VBG 10.28.03 start 62bmi/340# now 40.4bmi/228# Age 37 ~~ 5' 3" -112# -112

It must be hard not getting the surgery you were prepared for. However you can be successful with this surgery too. I have found that if I do the work I need to each day that the weight continues to come off. You can do this Allyson!! Sharon

Allyson, I totoally relate to you. I was prepared to have lap rny, but when I woke up from surgery on 3/9/04 I found out I had the lap VBG. I was so disappointed, but my dr told me when he got in he realized this procedure was safer for me. I started at 475, and at my last weigh-in on 7/9/04 I was 400lbs. 75 lbs in 4 months isn't bad. I lost 26lbs the first 10 days, then it slowed down once I started eating real foods again. You sound like your doing well. I can eat a lot of soft foods like green beans. Just make sure you get the protein in first. If you haven't you should to go to www.fitday.com and start recording what you're eating daily, it really keeps you on track. Best of luck to you!
