Hair loss !!! VBG
I am 8 mos post op VBG and my hair started falling out at 4 mos post op and is still on a roll--
LOTS of hair but since I had TONS of hair to start with no one but me notices, thank God---
I am a Bariatric Coordinator and have followed my own advise of increasing my prot intake to 80-90gm/day as well as I have never slacked off on the vitamins or biotin this whole time-
92gm/prot was the amount I needed to take at my beginning weight of 257# so damnit! Im getting enough at 180#!
Has anyone done this and when should I look for it to stop?
I have even gone to washing it every other day instead of every day---
no brushes-- the whole 9 yards-
The increased prot has increased my calorie intake as well and the loss is slowing down!
HELP! please email if you need to- [email protected]

Hi Tamera,
I am 3 yrs post-op and I have never gotten in the amount of protein I was supposed to. My surgeon did`nt recommend the drinks and its really hard to eat enough meat. I did have hairloss until about the 10th month. I don`t have that much hair, but it never got too bad. I don`t think anyone ever noticed. They say it grows back. I would`nt worry too much if I were you. If my little fine hairs can make it through, I bet yours can too.
Hi Tamera,
According to my sugeon (and yes, I know they all tell us something different) the hair loss happens because of the rapid weight loss. My hair was also falling out by the handful around 3 months -- I did notice that more fell out when I washed it. I only washed it about every four days until it stopped falling out. I would use good ole' "baby powder" inbetween washings. It wasn't very long before it stopped falling out -- maybe 2 months! I also took my vitamins and did my protein -- I have always failed on the side of water though!!
Good Luck and Congratulations to you!
