I am having surgery on Monday, 6-14-2004 and I am excited, anxious and nervous. I am curious as to what vitamins are best, and what exactly am I going to expect. Everyone seem to skirt around what actually goes down. I want the full nitty gritty. I am a big girl (no pun intended) I can take it. Holla back please!

HELLO!! MY SURGEON HAS US TAKE THE FLINTSTONE CHEWABLE COMPLETE VITAMINS TWICE A DAY. I HAD SURGERY ON 4/19/2004 AND IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I COULD HAVE EVER MADE. I WAS TOLD BY EVERYONE THAT I WOULD BE IN TREMENDOUS PAIN, BUT I WAS NOT. THE WORST PART FOR ME WAS WHEN I WAS WITHDRAWING FROM CAFFIENE!! ALL SURGEONS INSTRUCTIONS ARE DIFFERENT, MY SURGEON ALLOWS USE TO EAT 2 MEALS THAT CONSIST OF CALORIES AND CAN ONLY LAST FOR 20 MINUTES. AT OTHER TIMES CAN HAVE SF JELLO AND SF ICE POPS. I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME, BUT TRUTHFULLY I HAVE HAD A GREAT RECOVERY. I WILL BE THINKING ABOUT YOU, IF YOU NEED ANY OTHER INFO. JUST EMAIL ME. KELLY LONEY

I am almost 3 years post op and I still take the Flintstones chewable complete. Make sure they are the complete. I also take Spring valley, Antioxidant Formula from Wal Mart. They are very easy to swallow. This far out I can really swallow anything, I just really like the Flintstones. My last labs were perfect so I guess I`m getting all I need. My vbg was open also. Although it was`nt a picnic, it really was`nt that bad either. I did`nt have to take anything stronger than Tylenol when I got home. The walking they make you do works the soreness out. I was like Kelly, the caffeine and sugar withdrawals were the worse part for me. If I had it to do it over I would have eased off of them before surgery. But, hindsight is always 20/20. Keep us posted.

Thank you Kelly for your wonderful suggestion. I appreciate very much your responding to my question. Sometimes it feels like no one really cares. But, I know that is not true. I apologize for taking so long to respond back, but I couldn't remember how I got to this messageboard until now. I ended up on the Main one! and felt loss as a betsybug!!!! Thank you again and I will let you know how I'm doing on the losing end. Peace and Blessings Evangeline (Van) Shaw
